Sara comes home!
Time to have an awkward conversation
The next few days pass swiftly. Izzi and Mindy each spend a night alone in your bed, with both of them staying over one night. You’re not sure if they planned it together or how it works, but you’re kept too busy to ask. You awake, looking forward to cooking for your daughters. Your middle is coming home, heightening your anticipation.
You realize you haven’t been focusing on Lisa lately. You start to panic, but then realize that may be a good thing. People have been telling you to move on for a while, and while you acknowledge their wisdom in the abstract, you have had a difficult time with the real world. But now, your daughters have given you something to live for. For the first time in five years, you have a reason to live other than others depending on you. You wonder whether Lisa would approve. Most of you thinks, no, Lisa can’t approve of you screwing her daughters. But part of you thinks that, just maybe, she might approve. She was very much a free spirit. Besides, she wanted, more than anything, for you to be happy, just as you wished for the same for her.
You decide that what’s done is done, an there is no way to take it back. You give Lisa your love and get up to make your gorgeous daughters breakfast. You have much to prepare, as Sara is coming home.
Breakfast goes swimmingly. Izzi and Mindy chirp about whatever is going on with their lives while you fret about making everything ready for Sara to come home.
It’s an eternity but yet no time at all until you all four are sitting around the table. The delicious meal is over (“Thanks, John, this was great!”). The time is at hand.
“Sara. Your sisters and I have something to discuss with you”
Sara is instantly concerned. “Is something wrong, John?”
You cough, uncomfortably. “Not exactly.”
Sara is confused, “What’s going on?”
“Please, let me explain. Your sisters… well, they have been taking the place of your mother.”
Sara is confused. “They have been doing chores? That’s not new!”
Mindy giggles. “No exactly chores, sis.”
Izzi takes the lead. She sees herself as the head of the family (under you, no pun intended) and takes it very seriously. “Sara. Mom did far more than talk to John and do chores. She also, well…”
“Made him happy. Physically.”
It takes Sara a moment. “Wait, you mean you… Whoa. Wait. What?!”
How does Sara react?
