Chapter 78 by vanillathunder vanillathunder

Is it time for some rides? Or maybe time to play games at the midway? Or something else entirely?

Time for the funhouse!

After filling up on funnel cake, Kyle definitely wasn’t in the mood to ride the rollercoaster, but wanted something active so that things couldn’t get too romantic, so not the ferris wheel. As he looked around, he spotted the fun house. There’d be no time for romance if they kept running into things and had to keep moving.

“Ooh, what about the fun house?” Kyle asked.

“Seems like fun, let’s go!” Greg replied.

Kyle weakly laughed, which seemed to satisfy Greg.

The line was fairly short and soon they were inside, walking through the rotating entrance, which was tough for Kyle to navigate in the wedge heels, but he managed it.

After that, the couple entered the first main room, which was a room decorated like a circus tent, but as they moved, jets of air shot up from the floor at them, causing Kyle to jump slightly. Greg laughed as Kyle blushed and thanked whatever benevolent **** made it so that he was in shorts and not a skirt. His panties were definitely not something he wanted to share with Greg.

“This is pretty fun so far, right Kylie?” Greg asked.

“Yeah, a little boring though. Probably designed for kids,” Kyle replied.

He hadn’t expected much, but it certainly wasn’t the exciting attraction he’d hoped it might be. Into the next room, it was a maze filled with obstacles like hanging punching bags and slowly spinning foam pieces in the floor. They had to go single file through that room, and Kyle somehow ended up in the forward position, no doubt so Greg had something to look at as they walked through.

The following room was a hall of mirrors, which was unfortunate for Kyle, since it meant he got a great, practically 360° view of ‘Kylie’ as he walked through.

“Hold up a second, I’ve gotta tie my shoe…” Greg said as he bent down.

Kyle ignored Greg, if only to scout out the exit, which wasn’t as obvious as the other rooms. But right when he thought he’d found it,

*BANG*

Kyle bumped into a mirror and tumbled backwards onto the ground, tripping over his heels and landing square on his ass.

“Kylie? You okay?” Greg’s voice rang out, but Kyle couldn’t see him in any of the mirrors.

“I’m fine!” Kyle shouted back.

Kyle, unable to get a grip on the mirror thanks to his nails making it impossible, decided to start crawling and hoped to find either the room’s entrance or exit.

“Follow my voice!” Greg shouted.

“I told you I’m…” Kyle stopped short as he bumped into something with his face.

He looked up to see Greg, still kneeling down on the floor, and what he’d bumped into was…

“Oh god! I am so sorry!” Kyle sputtered as he recoiled backwards.

“It’s fine,” Greg chuckled. “I don’t think that’s usually done until the third date, though…”

“I… I…” Kyle started, blushing furiously.

“Relax, kidding.” Greg said, standing up. “Let me help you.”

Greg reached down for Kyle’s hand and helped pull him into a standing position.

“Next time though, maybe pick better shoes.” Greg advised.

“I’d take that advice if I was the one who picked them out,” Kyle muttered.

“Come on, one room left. But stay close, don’t want to get separated again.” Greg said.

The final room was clearly inspired by a haunted house, and it made sense why. These funhouses were cheap, little, thrown-together affairs, and the best way to make people think it was worth the admission is to have a cheap jumpscare at the end. Kyle knew that, because it was also how horror game developers thought. But as they entered, Kyle thought back to what Melissa had said about Greg,

“And he loves a girl who plays hard to get. He’s a romantic like that, loves a chase. He doesn’t want a girl to just throw themselves at him.”

While he’d endeavored to seem interested, he realized he hadn’t done much in the way of things that he knows Greg actively dislikes, and Greg still seemed pretty interested in ‘Kylie’. Maybe if he did something like that, the date might end early…

As they entered the strobe-light filled dark room with the walls painted with glow-in-the-dark paint, Kyle had an idea. It might be taking the idea too literally, but maybe it would do the trick.

Kyle spotted the costumed worker, dressed like a clown in bloody bandages brandishing a fake chainsaw, the moment he came around the corner. But for Kylie, it was going to be the scariest thing she ever saw.

“AHHHHHH!” Kyle screamed and threw himself into Greg’s arms.

Kyle felt Greg realize what had happened and grab Kylie as the clown raised his fake chainsaw and turned it on. Greg chuckled a bit as they walked through and Kyle pulled the same trick on the next few scares, until they were back outside, their eyes readjusting to daylight.

“That was fun… Until the end, though.” Kyle said. “Good thing I had you, right?”

Kyle closed his eyes and gave Greg a light side-hug, and waited to see Greg’s reaction.

“Actually, I enjoyed the whole thing, especially the end.” Greg smiled.

Drat, it hadn’t worked had it, he liked being the knight in shining armor, didn’t he? Kyle would have to regroup.

“So, what do you want to do next?” Greg asked.

“Oh, I dunno. I’ve picked everything so far, why don’t you choose?” Kyle replied.

“Okay, um… I know! Let’s go to…” Greg started.

Maybe the midway for some games? Or one of the rides? Or something else?
