Time Machine

Lauren gazed down at a small, watch-like device before picking it up and tying it to her wrist. To anyone else, it would seem like just an ordinary wrist watch. But to Lauren, it was something else entirely.

A few nights ago, Lauren was hard at work with calculations when she discovered that, by complete accident, she had done the impossible: She had discovered time travel! Sure, it was theoretically possible to travel forward into time, but Lauren had gone one step further and discovered a way to travel both forwards AND backwards through time!

Lauren imagined the possibilities of this discovery. She could witness the signing of The Declaration of Independence. She could watch the ancestor of all land animals take its first steps out of the sea and on to dry land. She could even just travel to the distant future, learn the winning lottery numbers of the next ten years, and make billions!

“I should probably start out small, though.” Lauren said to herself. Looking at her calendar, she saw that her twenty-fourth birthday was only a few weeks away. That gave Lauren two different ideas: She could either travel back in time to witness her own birth, or she could travel forward in time to the day of her birthday.
