What's next?
Thrusday Friday from Kara and crew
Thursday afternoon, October 23rd
Kara was looking at her phone outside of Wayne Plaza and a thought struck her. She texted Barbara and then dialed a number.
“Hi, It’s Kara. I was wondering if you were doing anything tonight, I was just going to be hanging out for a bit with my friend Barbara and was wondering if you wanted to join us for dinner. No nothing to crazy, I have classes in the morning and I am sure you have work tomorrow too. Slumming it? Sure, we will meet you there.”
Kara smiled as she hung up the phone. It wasn’t a date, but it was a date…
*
Barbara and Kara were already seated and talking when Jean Paul walked in. The usher brought him over with a smile.
“Sorry if this is slumming for you but it is right by my apartment,” Jean Paul said taking a seat.
“Oh honey, Kara and Babs are regulars,” the Usher snickered.
Jean Paul’s face turned red.
“It’s not slumming,” Kara said, “I like to support small business when every I can, you know keep the money in the community.”
“Some of these people live in my building,” Barbara noted.
“Oh,” Jean-Paul stammered.
“Don’t worry about it,” Kara giggled, “So how did you end up in Gotham?”
“Ah… My mother died when I was very young, my father and I moved to the US and we got citizenship… He had to go away for work a long time ago, I had to finish highschool on my own, the bills were always paid and there was money for food, but I was left to study a lot. Turns out I was really good with cybernetics and prostatitis. So a friend told me to apply to Wayne and here I am.”
“you were abandoned?” Barbara asked.
“Not entirely…” Jean Paul said, “But in effect.”
“You said your mom died when you were young,” Kara started, “I also lost my family…”
“She died when I was like five or six…” Jean said, “She was nice, sang gospel music all the time… Makes me wonder if I was adopted.”
“Adopted?” Barbara asked.
“My mother looked like a young Aretha Franklin…” Jean said, “And I look like ‘a rejected extra from a bad Viking film’, as someone once told me.”
“That’s a horrible way to describe yourself,” Kara snapped.
“It’s true…”
The waitress arrived.
“The usual?” She asked then turned to Jean, “What would you like sir?”
“Calzone?” Jean-Paul said.
“Hay Jen?” Barbara asked, “How would you describe this young man?”
The waitress looked the man up and down in his button down shirt, jeans and glasses with his long blonde hair.
“Honestly, ditch the glasses and you look like the model on my boyfriend’s boxer-brief packaging,” the waitress smiled.
Jean Paul almost did a spit take of his water. Kara chuckled. Barbara smiled.
“You can’t be that bad looking if you can pass for an underwear model,” Kara snorted.
Kara mulled over the statement that Jean-Paul had made however… She had seen the security camera footage of the hospital and heard about the mystery surrounding who his dead birthmother was… But another line kept creeping into her head…
“But it’s like something sucked the life out of him or he has been totally brainwashed and isn’t a real person anymore.”
That was what Jason had said… and it was true… there was a depressed sadness to him, like he was just going throw the motions…
“Your mom used to sing gospel music?” Barbara asked as they ate their salads.
“Yes, she pretty much only sang gospel music,” Jean Paul said, “My family was very religious…”
“Spent a lot of time at church functions?” Kara asked.
“No,” Jean-Paul said, “They never went to churches… but I read the bible a lot growing up.”
That raised question marks in Kara and Barbara.

Barbara and Kara walked into the manor and saw Bruce and Alfred standing in the kitchen watching the TV that Alfred kept above the kitchen island.
“What’s up?” Kara asked.
“You have had your dampeners on,” Bruce said, “New York City, Clark is on his way.”
Kara looked at the TV. There was a building on fire. Police were crouched behind their police cruisers taking shots at a figure in the building. The figure stepped into the window and pointed his left arm out the shattered window and a jet of flaming napalm shot at the police. The figure retreated as other officers shot at the figure. It was clear that the brass and red figure was heavily armored and had a red cloak on.
The blue streak flashed into the building.
“What is going on?” Bruce asked his special phone… “I lost him.”
An explosion erupted from the building. Bruce hit a few more icons on the phone and put it back to his ear.
“Who is there?” Bruce asked.
The camera spun around and spotted the Flash come to a stop. Flash touched the ear piece in his hood and was whispering back.
“I am watching on TV,” Bruce said, “Clark is in there with an Angel of Death. No, not her, the other one.”
Flash disappeared from the camera shot and then reappeared with Superman.
“What happened?” Bruce asked, “What? How did he do that?”
Kara was looking at the camera and managed to read the lips of Flash repeating what Clark was telling him.
(The Angel used his flaming sword to cut the fuel line to the flamethrower and went up like a propane bomb. Supes lost sight of him and couldn’t see any remains before I pulled him out.)
“Understood. Lets see who can do a forensics work up on this after fire department does their job,” Bruce said.
(Hang on, he is scanning for survivors… dang, that’s a lot of dead…)
On the screen she could see Clark shake his head and then waved over some firefighters. He started instructing them and they went to work.

“What?” the shout came from Crane’s office, “Well who signed for it? Who? I will be there in the morning! I want to see everything!”
Cash arched an eyebrow and looked around the hallway. A minute later, Doctor Crane came out of his office and locked the door behind him.
“Are you ok Doctor?” Cash asked.
“Huh?” Crane looked around and half smiled at Cash, “Cash, nice to see you…”
“Yeah,” Cash said not sure what to make of the non answer so he repeated his question, “Are you ok Doctor? I could hear you yelling on the phone.”
“Oh, that,” Crane sighed, “No, you ever had someone steal your package from your door?”
“Someone jack your Amazon delivery?” Cash smiled, “That sucks.”
“Worse than that,” Crane said, “A delivery for the experiment clinic in town… I will have to notify the FDA and FBI…”
“Oh damn…” Cash said, “Come on, I will walk you to your car.”
“Thank you…” Crane said, “I really need a vacation…”
*
The Patrol was quite… considering the fight that had happened in New York, Gotham was peaceful tonight. A purse snatch at about ten thirty was resolved by Jason dropping an empty trash can on him at the end of the block. While people looked around for where the trash can from, Jason and Kara were already making their way off to look for something else to do.

Friday Morning, October 24th
Kara woke to the sensation of falling and bouncing on her bed.
“What the…” Kara said.
“You were punching the ceiling in your nightmare…” Alfred said coldly from the doorway with a remote in his hand, “Again.”
Kara looked up and spotted the fist shaped holes in her ceiling.
“Shit,” Kara said, “I’ll fix them.”
“I will have everything you need in your room after classes,” Alfred noted, “Including a ladder.”
“Right.”
*
Jason sat with Raven at lunch talking with her and Megan… but knew he was being watched by multiple pairs of eyes. Rose the Ravager was glaring at him, Doctor mind fuck kept looking at him and other people too, Justin was plotting to kill Jason and Helen and Karen were looking at him like he was a murderer…
*
Kara looked over the diagram of the housing market projections types and felt her brain twitch. Her father’s orbital decent equations for the space probes made more sense than this…
*
Alfred smiled as Kara walked into the kitchen from garage. Kara arched an eyebrow.
“First I was instructed that you are to take Master Jason and Mistress Racheal with you tomorrow to get Halloween costumes. Master Jason will need two, one for his Halloween party at school and for the dinner party Master Bruce is hosting Wednesday night for the family,” Alfred said.
“Ok,” Kara said wondering, “What else has you smiling?”
“Everything you need is in your room,” Alfred’s smile became a cat that ate the canary grin.
“Shit,” Kara said.
“You better work as fast as HUMANLY possible,” Alfred said, “so you can go clubbing with Miss Barbara…”
*
Doctor Quin walked past Doctor Crane’s office and stopped at the sound of banging. She could just barely make out Crane banging his head on his desk throw the frosted safety glass on Crane’s door.
*
Barbara was waiting for Kara at the entrance to the club. Barbara looked hot in the mint green latex nurse minidress and knee boots. Kara walked up in her “Bat-babe” catsuit with a gold bat across her black latex chest.
“Hey,” Tula said walking up behind Kara.
Kara turned and looked at Tula in a black latex mermaid dress.
“You are latex,” Tula said.
“I had to fix the ceiling in my room,” Kara said sheepishly.
“What?” Tula asked.
“Long story,” Kara said, “Lets party.”
*
Kara couldn’t help but see it. The guy bugging the girl at the bar slipped a tab into her drink when she talking to her friends. Kara narrowed her gaze and focused on the base of the glass. The spot of heat formed a crack that opened just enough. The woman put her hand down to grab the drink and noticed the wetness.
“Hay this glass is broken!” the woman called to the bartender.
The Bartender looked at the puddle on the bar top and picked up the now leaking glass.
“Sorry miss, I’ll make you another,” the Bartender smiled and turned around.
The man turned and started walking away. The Bartender stopped as he was about to toss out the broken glass and then waved over another bartender and the pair looked for the guy that had been next to the girl who ordered the drink. One of them pulled out a radio.
Kara smiled and turned her attention back to cute guy dancing on the table in front of them in a rubber speedo.
*
Selina looked out over the city. Her kittens were around her, both four and two legged. Isis was curled up in Selina’s arms.
“So girls,” Selina addressed her two legged kittens, “What do you think we should do for Bruce’s Halloween dinner?”
“Cat ears and naughty kitten dresses?” Holly said taking a drink of her diet sprite can.
“Obvious,” Maven noted as calmly as she didn’t feel.
“So what are you thinking?” Selina prodded her enigmatic personal assistant.
“Something no one would guess,” Maven said, “Dog themed costumes.”
“Eh…” Holly started.
“I already bought a buttplug puppy tail for you dear Margay,” Maven said.
“I’m in,” Holly changed her mind.
Selina smiled at her kittens, she liked it when they plaid nice together.
