Chapter 26

How do you make it into the stronghold?
Through the front door
You reach the top of a small hill and before you stands the stronghold. It is built into the side of a mountain up a steep incline about a mile away. It is impressive. It's giant black rocks blend into the side of the mountain. Ornate walls and parapets surround it. Dark clouds seem to hang above it making it seem like dusk, even in the afternoon sun.
Yona whistles. "Impressive isn't it?"
"It is a very defensible position." You can't imagine a successful siege of this castle.
You continue you hike toward it. As you get closer it only grows more imposing. It towers above you. A gorge separates the stronghold from the trail. A single wide drawbridge allows crossing. You check Yona's and your robes before stepping into the bridge. They are close to perfect as possible.
You step onto the bridge, noting dozens of skeletal archers in the walls above. You approach guard stations on either side of the the bridge. Each contains two undead warriors. They are unusually full of vigor, and each has a eagle marked blade. Clearly, fighting your way out is a last resort.
You breath a sigh of relief as you enter the stronghold with no alarms. The halls are dimly lit. A dark robed priestess with a far more ornate headpiece strides toward you with purpose.
She closes within a few feet. "Welcome sisters. May you find pleasure in the darkness." She points at Yona. "You, we have a need for another usher at the ceremony. Go with Colia." She turns to you. "You, come with me. The dark lord needs another hand."
You don't want to split up, but you can't believe your luck. If all goes well you can simply walk up to the dark lord, kill him, and escape in the chaos.
Split up, or try to keep Yona with you?
