Chapter 8 by hewhoismany
What happens next?
Thomas leaves in shame, so Harry decides to forget that happened.
To my surprise, what immediately followed was Thomas putting on his pants and ditching the apartment, and me, as fast as he could. I only found out a few months later that he'd thought I was another one of those young people in over their heads, staying at my place for safety while Harry Dresden, badass wizard, was out fighting evil. Losing control and taking me like that, even though he only bit off a small piece, was so shameful for him that he didn't want me to see him for quite a while. When I finally explained all the details, let me tell you he did not know how to handle that.
Of course, I didn't know any of that at the time, and my teenage heart was brusied by his sudden departure. What, was I just a quick suck, good for a blow and that was it? My burgeoning female pride was injured, and I quietly resolved to try and pretend that never happened as I got dressed and went back downstairs to the lab. Bob was eyeing me immediately, his eyelights showing quite a bit of interest. "I heard some fun stuff happening up there, babe. I wouldn't expect you'd be so quick to lose that virginity."
Focusing on my inner Dresden, I gathered up what energy I still could and gave the skull a hard stare. "One, I'm still Harry, Bob, and if you give me any more little nicknames I'm handing you to Mab. Two, my virginity in this body is intact, thank you very much. Three, don't ever ask me about what just happened. Four, give me some info on the coin."
"Alright then, Herr Fuhrer, I think I've mostly figured out the enchantment on these coins." I was interested enough in what he had to say that I decided to ignore the Hitler joke. "It seems that whenever a mortal is in possession of the coin, any choices they make with their Free Will are closely examined by the coin, and compared to their sense of self. If the person does something they relate in any way to a certain person or a stereotype about certain types of people, the coin transforms them into what they were thinking of, and it affects the mind as well." I'd already seen that in action myself. "Conscious thought won't affect it either, it's entirely subconscious. If you want to change back, you'll need to do things that you think are stereotypically Harry Dresden."
What does Harry do?
