Things actually go to plan, for him...

The drive to IT Wizards was short. Inside, Spencer was greeted by a kid who looked no older than 18. They spent a few moments disputing if Spencer was allowed to pick up the laptop for Mary before the manager sorted everything out. With the laptop in hand, Spencer headed back to the school. He knew he'd be a bit earlier than Mary had intended, but he didn't mind waiting around.

With his task complete, Spencer pulled up in the staff carpark. There, he noticed a young black woman leaning against the wall, furiously texting on her phone. He got out of the car and walked towards her. Hearing Spencer's steps, the woman lifted her head out of her digital world.

"Oh, hey." Her voice trembled with a hint of anxiety.

"Hi."

"Are you a teacher?"

"No, my daughter goes here."

"Oh, okay. Cool. I'm Cassie. Well, I better get going anyway. Gotta talk to the principal."

"That's where I'm headed too, actually."

"Oh, cool. Guess I'll follow you then."

Cassie followed Spencer down the hallway, her eyes darting around her new surroundings. Spencer tried to figure out what had made her so uneasy but decided against asking. He already had four women's problems to deal with, and he didn't intend to make his list any longer.

"Come in." Mary called out. Cassie and Spencer entered. Mary's eyes dart up to give Cassie a grim gaze. "Miss Johnston? Take a seat."

Cassie nodded before sitting down as Spencer put the laptop bag. Mary gave him a nod as he darted out of the room. His mind quickly drifted away from what was happening in the room to what he should do with the rest of his day. Whilst he pulled up his driveway, Spencer decided to go kayaking out on the lake.

Inside his shed, Spencer put on his life jacket, before feeling his phone vibrate.
