They think Sarah Morris is gay?!

Wallis looked like he was feeling uncomfortable, and Wallis was almost never uncomfortable. He had seen his fair share of celebrity parties and more, including plenty of illegal happenings, without even batting an eye. So if he didn't want to tell Sarah what was going through the rumour mill now, that meant that it might be a serious problem.

She got up as close to Wallis as she could. "What is it?" she hissed. She tried to sound calm, like she wasn't barely containing her anger. It didn't work. "Wallis. What is this story?"

Wallis sighed. "Well," he said. "The story goes that you're..." He gritted his teeth. "That you're a lesbian, ma'am."

Sarah suddenly felt like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulder. "Oh, that old story?" she said. "What, are they insisting that Maisie and I are a couple again? Whatever. That always blows over, it's mostly just girls on Twitter being thirsty." There was nothing to worry about after all.

"No ma'am," Wallis said. He kept his face stone-still even as he delivered the bad news. "They apparently have a source. Some woman named Emma Meyer says that you two had an affair several years ago. She's been shopping the story around to all the major gossip rags."

Sarah Morris's heart dropped out from under her. She hadn't thought about the name "Emma Meyer" in years. "Oh goddammit," she said. "I knew I should have made that bitch sign a fucking NDA."
