They settle in, for a long winter.

John and Kira got going again soon after Ralph left them.

They sailed fairly slowly inland, there was no longer any rush. They were confident that anyone coming for them could not have followed them across the North Sea through that weather.

Their boat was one of the few able to make the journey. Anyone who followed them to England, and England was not an obvious choice, would certainly have lost them.

After pushing it so hard most of this way to this point, it was a welcome break.

Kira watched her charts as the moved inland, following the primary waterway they were on for miles and miles, before moving into a smaller waterway, and then eventually a smaller on than that.

They stopped again to rest, and spent the night in another little cove. John and Kira fucked harder than they had lately, enjoying the privacy and security of their hidden location.

This part of the world was an outlier, being so far North it could have been locked in ice, but the ocean currents kept it warm. At least the coastal part of Norway. But where they were going, to the inner waterways inside the mountains, it was quite a lot colder.

They would need to really prepare for winter.

Kira continued along the smaller inner waterway, then onto one which was even smaller, more like a canal.

They finally pulled up to a good sized but older dock, which was concealed by trees and overgrowth. They tied off and checked out a modest house which was itself hard to see from the water, and which had no roads leading to it.

This property was not one that John had asked to have prepared for them, which was part of the reason why Kira had chosen it.

It was in disrepair, but it was very secluded, and was in a part of the world that was getting very tough to get to. They could get it back into shape, it would be well worth the effort to be secluded for a while.

Neither of them knew how long they would need to hide from Amber, and neither was in a hurry to find out.

The two of them cleaned and repaired the house, using what tools they had and the materials they could find.

The property had a well, but no power. It looked like it had never had power, it had been designed to be off of the grid. All the better.

John and Kira worked for weeks getting the place into good order. The roof was leaking, but was not a difficult fix. The well wasn’t in great shape after so many years of neglect, but they got it working again, and also set up the desalinization plant on the boat to help out.

The main house had a cast iron wood burning stove that heated the house, and plenty of wood, so they could easily stay warm enough. There were a few sheds around the property, and they were pleased to find they were pretty well stocked on tools.

They would have plenty of fresh water. They lifted the boat out of the water, thankfully the dock at their new home had a lift big enough for their boat. They had to run a couple of water lines down to the water, but it was not very tough.

The used the solar array on the boat to provide a little power to the house, and moved the small appliances from the boat to the house, along with some of the internal lights.

They left their boat mostly intact, and planned to do a monthly supply run to a small port town near Bergen. They would keep working on the place over time with what they could buy in town.

At this point they didn’t have access to the resources and wealth they had accumulated, but they did have what they had taken from Amber when they left, and it was a start.

At least they were starting with the well stocked food stores on the boat, they could fish out of the waterway, perhaps even trap, and they could set up a small farm to help to supplement their dietary needs.

When they got back around to discussing their coming child and what to do about it, Kira suggested they should not entertain the thought of bringing a new child into their enhanced lifestyle.

When John asked what they should do, his daughter suggested adoption. She would bear the child, get it healthy, and then take it to Bergen and leave it at a hospital who could see to it’s care and adoption.

They knew their child would be healthy, they were all healthy. As much as they didn’t like the idea of giving up a child for adoption, they knew their children would be beautiful and brilliant, and very sturdy and strong.

It wasn’t his child, and she didn’t want to raise another man’s child with her father. She explained that the child was not the product of consensual sex, if adoption was possible, they needed to go that route.

This being decided, they spent months getting their new home into order. They stocked up on supplies, their boat could handle plenty, and over time built up a decent supply of fuel oil, and biodiesel. They also purchased plenty of wiring and new solar arrays, allowing them to set up the house with it’s own solar power.

They wanted to take it as easy on the boat as they could, it would be their lifeline to supplies and materials, as well as their route of escape if they needed it.

Before winter set in they made a few trips to other properties they owned, their powerful boat made such trips fairly easy.

They visited their old place in Sweden, and gathered tools and materials they had left behind. They also gathered items of value from other properties where they had been stored.

They planned to stay in Norway for a while, so they wanted to be as self sufficient as possible.
