Chapter 4

How did Allison meet Gillian?
They met when Allison was first hired
While climbing back to her feet from under the car, Allison remembered her first day on the job, nervous but eager to learn and do good work. She had completed a short course of orientation videos and was then introduced to her co-workers. That’s when she first met Gillian. She’d been friendly, offered to help teach Allison what she needed to be done, and had just transferred off the sales team to broaden her experience.
After Gillian had been something of a mentor, Allison was hurt that she could turn on her so harshly. She shook her head and tried to push the memory aside for now. She had far bigger concerns ahead of her.
She decided to chance getting back to the main road. Being seen by the gas station patron had made her even more **** to get home. Allison walked back to the intersection and turned right.
Even though the road was deserted once again she still put her hands in front of her breasts and vagina, a habit she didn’t even think about. She heard the occasional car in the distance, blocks away and none ever coming towards her. She was able to pick up her pace, move quickly under the streetlights while she looked around to make sure she remained alone.
After making her way down several blocks Allison could see her street up ahead, on the left. She crossed the road now and moved a little faster.
She arrived at the corner and turned, but immediately froze in her steps. She saw a porch light up ahead, and someone sitting on the porch. Allison moved back to the fence- a street light at the corner had illuminated her and she quickly got back out of view.
Now able to peer around the corner, she saw who it was- a neighbor who lived a few houses down and across the street from her. She didn’t know them personally, but knew he was an older retiree who had a part time job working graveyard shift as a security guard somewhere. He wasn’t looking in her direction, and Allison felt secure that he hadn’t seen her.
Her house was just a little ways down this road, but now she was stuck until the older man either went back inside, or Allison found another way to get there. She knew that he could go back inside at any moment- but also knew that he could sit out here for who knows how long. She’d heard about neighbors seeing him at all hours of the night. There was also the chance of another car coming this way- she was still visible under the street light and there wasn’t anywhere to hide nearby.
She figured that she could go back down the street and go around the block, approach her house from the other direction. But she also knew that if she made it to her house and the retiree wasn’t still on his porch she’d be kicking herself for quite some time. Then it struck her that she could climb the fence she was hiding behind- she wasn’t terribly good at hopping over fences but she was in decent enough shape that she could make it without too much difficulty. The house directly ahead of her was completely dark so they were likely all asleep. If she could hop a few fences, she could get past the neighbor and return to the street if she had to.
Allison was about to make up her mind, when she started cursing her ambition to get that promotion. She didn’t know that Gillian was going to apply, but she knew that some people with the company longer would be upset if she got it. Deciding to wait a short moment to see if the man might go back inside, she couldn’t help but think back to that interview.
How did Allison succeed in getting the job?
