They had plans to visit the Adcocks for Christmas...

Leah and Jonathan agreed to go see Jonathan’s family for Christmas break.

They had made the drive before, this time their car had more than just their bags—but some gifts, most of them wrapped. Tommy and Tammy Adcock came out to meet Leah and Jonathan. Jonathan’s brother Luke and his very pregnant wife, Ashley, soon joined in the welcome.

Leah swallowed hard as she made small talk with Jonathan's kind parents, hating herself for deceiving these good people. If only they knew how she had defiled herself, over and over, just to keep her teaching job.

Jonathan's arm wrapped protectively around her waist as they walked inside. If only he knew how spoiled she was, how many times she had betrayed him right under his nose. She wondered if he would still touch her so lovingly if he found out.

During dinner, Tommy regaled the family with funny stories while Tammy and Ashley discussed baby names. Leah pretended to listen, nodding and forcing an occasional laugh.
