They go after Penelope

The sooner Texas was free from her horrid affliction, the sooner she could get back to her usual business of thwarting evildoers. Finding Penelope was their top priority. The duo walked out of the station and made their way back to the center of town where she initially found the swindling rabbit. To her surprise, Penelope was still in the same spot as before with a bored expression affixed to her face as she waited for customers. Upon seeing the lawmen approaching her, the bunny's eyes lit up excitedly.

"Sheriff! What a pleasant surprise! I take it things are going swimmingly with your new squee-- ACK!!"

Penelope gasped as she was violently snatched by the collar of her cloak and pulled into Texas's fuming face. She blinked as the sheriff glared into her eyes with white hot intensity.

"April. Make sure nobody steps in to interrupt" Texas ordered as she cracked her neck. She had been made to debase herself and she was looking for any excuse to beat Penelope down as payback.

"Yes ma'am" April said with a smirk as she walked over to the road. Penelope swallowed nervously as the sheriff's gaze bore into her.

"I-I-Is there a p-p-problem o-officer?" she stuttered with a shaky smile.

"Fix mah brain, ya no good huckster!" Texas growled.

"W-what're you talking about? I already fixed-"

"You didn't fix NOTHIN!" Texas snarled as lifted the rabbit up and shook her. Passing townspeople stopped to watch as their sheriff manhandled the smaller woman, though they were quickly shooed away by April. "Ah don't know what kind'a hocus pocus bull you pulled on me, but it's got me lustin' after Roxxie Roo! One minute ah'm patrolin' the town, the next ah'm beggin' to be her saddle!"

Penelope blinked, confused by the sheriff's rage. She had expected the sheriff to roll up thanking her for her services while professing her love for her sexy kangaroo lover. Had she really screwed things up this bad? She sighed and shook her head in disappointment, surprising the angry weasel.

"I'm so so sorry, Sheriff. I really made a mess of things, haven't I?" she said softly. Texas raised a brow at the sincerity in the bunny's voice. "If you can find it in your heart to forgive me, I think I can make things right. No charge, of course" she said as she walked over to her bag and dug through it to retrieve her pendulum.

Texas was hesitant to answer. Penelope appeared to be speaking in earnest, but she wasn't comfortable at the thought of putting her trust in this strange woman again. Still, she didn't really have much of a choice. Either she allowed Penelope work her magic again, or she would have to spend the rest of her career avoiding Roxxie.

"Alright fine. No funny business though!" she said with a huff.

"You have my word" Penelope said with a nod as she sat down with her legs crossed. She gestured for Texas to sit down in front of her, which the weasel quickly obliged. Taking in a deep breath, Penelope began to swing her pendulum, her eyes full of focus as she met Texas's gaze. She would put all her energy into it this time...
