They evade capture and stop for a breather.

"I love this ship!" Sparrow cheered. They'd left their pursuers in the dust of the asteroid belt and flown on until they felt they'd gotten enough distance between them to relax. Their vessel was now parked, hovering in the shadow of a larger rock that tumbled slowly near the outer rim of the belt.

"It is quite fortunate that we found it," Zeska agreed.

"And that we have a pilot capable of pushing it to its limits," her adoptive daughter whooped with an appreciative look towards the captain's chair.

Vollova rose, wiping her brow and bouncing on her heels to loosen up her muscles, which had cramped during the tense chase. "You mean past its limits," she laughed. "The whole thing would have fallen apart if not for the amazing mechanics working overtime to keep her in one piece."

Ember blushed at the compliment. It had been directed at everyone, but it was no secret that she was the techie of the group. While Sparrow and her mother helped where they could, she was still teaching them how to keep the ship's systems running.

"Zeska, do you mind taking the helm?" Vollova asked. "Momma needs some R&R."

The Glacian woman walked over and let herself fall into the padded seat, while the Darsite pilot walked out towards the crew quarters. "Meet me in five minutes?" Vollova asked Sparrow when she passed him on her way out of the cockpit.

While Zeska called up some charts on the main screen, the rest gathered around her. They had escaped the slavers for now, but they were still deep in hostile territory. Studying their maps and sensor data carefully, the three did their best to plot a safe course forward. Their stolen ship didn't have the range to reach Darse or Glace from here, but there were several friendly outposts they could refuel at on the way... provided the location data they'd picked up was accurate.

But that was a worry for later. Right now, all they could do was take things one day at a time, hope they reached safety soon, and enjoy what comforts they had.
