They enter the house and face their first competition

The video sequence ends and the focus shifts back to Julie Chen on stage outside the front door.

"Please welcome Danielle, Ellie, Isabel and Victoria!"

The crowd erupts into applause as the four women are shown waiting patiently on the other side of the stage.

"You four are about to enter the Big Brother house and begin playing the ultimate summer game of social strategy. Now, when you go inside, I need the four of you to all head to the backyard immediately where you will partake in your first competition of the summer. The winner of this competition will have a shot at becoming the first Head of Household, granting them safety, comfort and power in the game. The loser of this competition will be a Have-Not for the first week, meaning they'll only be allowed to eat slop, take cold showers and sleep in the Have-Not bedroom. Are you ladies ready?"

They all say yes.

"Then go ahead and enter the Big Brother house!"

The women all excitedly pick up their bags and head inside. Victoria is the first to enter the door, followed by Isabel, Danielle and Ellie. They gasp and shout excitedly when they see the inside of the house for the first time. This season, it's decked out in a Roman theme with statues depicting ancient soldiers, art of the Roman pantheon of gods adorning the walls, and modern Italian design mixed in. They don't have much time to admire it, though, as the show is live and they have to get on with the competition. As the ladies walk to the backyard, they quickly introduce themselves to each other before taking their spots for the competition as Julie explains the rules.

"Alright, ladies. It's time for your first competition of the summer. This competition is called Tower of Power and here's how it works. On the far end of each of your stations is the base of a tower. Behind you are several tower blocks. On my go, you must grab one block at a time, bring it to the other end, stack it onto the tower base, then come back and repeat the process. The taller your tower gets, the more unsteady it will become. If your tower topples at any point, you must bring the fallen blocks back to the start before beginning the stacking process again. The houseguest with the tallest tower after 3 minutes will move on to compete for the first Head of Household. The houseguest with the shortest tower after 3 minutes will become a Have-Not. Does everyone understand?"

They all say yes.

"Then get ready, ladies. Your 3 minutes starts now."
