Grink picked up on the first ring. "Hello, Jennifer."

Jen responded evenly. "Grink?" She had to play this smart. This guy had the upper hand but she could still outmaneuver him.

"You just set fire to about three hundred grand and ran off with another hundred, but I'm smiling. Wanna know why?" She said nothing.

"Because you're living on borrowed time, bitch. Are you already getting slower? Having a harder time making connections? How's Mark doing, by the way? Say hi, and give those melons a nice slap for me, would you?" Overhearing his name, Mark cheerfully yelled "Hi Grink!"

This was bad. Grink knew more than Jen had counted on. "What did you do to Mark?"

"I was wondering the same thing. When you called this morning, you had taken the pill. Now he shows up and he's taken it! So I helped my pal Mark out. I gave him a little something to help with his mood swings."

Hope! He did have a cure! Stay calm, she told herself. Grink was obviously a lot smarter than she gave him credit for. "Ok, so he's stuck like this. For now. What do you want?"

He laughed. "To be honest, I just wanna watch you turn into whatever he's into. Is your hair long yet? Are your tits and ass swelling up? Can you picture me naked without getting wet?"

He was trying to distract her, draw out the conversation. "Look, I've stashed your box somewhere safe. How about we meet up and talk through this? You get me the cure and I'll get you your box back."

Grink paused. "Ok, I'll be here."

"No, not your place. Somewhere public."

"My house or have fun watching your brain leak out your ears while your boyfriend fingers himself to sleep in your backseat."

She hung up and stared at the phone. Shit.

Mark was looking at her with one eye squinted, swaying a little. "Are we gonna go back to Grink's?"
