Chapter 20
by Wulfblade
What's next?
They come upon a chasm
They follow the tunnel for a bit, Tyra's light spell leading the way, and after a bit the hallway widens again into what looks like a large chamber with a high ceiling. As they step inside they see that the floor suddenly drops off after several feet into a deep, yawning chasm, as though an earthquake had torn a rift right through the dungeon and left this obstacle in their path. On the other side of the chasm there is another wide platform, with a pedestal at the center, and the platform is attached to another doorway leading into a hallway further ahead.
On Tyra and Diana's side stands a pedestal, right at the chasm's edge, with a handprint carved into it beneath the words Place your hand here, and let the wind carry you across.
"Alrighty, seems clear enough," and Tyra places the palm of her hand in the handprint, before Diana can reach out and stop here. As soon as she reaches out her pants sag a little again, drawing her hand back.
-"No wait what if it's a trap!"
Tyra is unable to get out a response before a sudden gust of wind sweeps up in front of them. Behind the pedestal, hovering a step beyond the edge above the yawning depth coalesces a whirlwind, a little bit larger than a humanoid, with two smaller whirlwinds portruding from it like a pair of arms, and blueish lights shining from the top like a pair of eyes, occasionally crackling with thunder. The air elemental aparates and waits. As Tyra and Diana look at it with caution, it continues to hover there, showing no hostile intent.
"Looks like tha's our ride across, Dee."
