Chapter 9

How can you fight a stone giant?!
They can't, but maybe someone else can....
The stone giant raised it's hands and brought them down, shaking miles of earth, maybe even all of Tyren. Sagus wrapped an arm around Marianne and took off.
"RUN AWAY!!" he called to his other companions. He looked back to find they had already started to. The group dashed through the woods at the former mountain base, leading away from Morens. It was Sagus' hope that the trees would act as caltrops and injure the giant's feet, but they only slowed him down slightly. Santonus again raised his hand and slammed it into the ground, the quake sending the mages and archer to the ground. The giant raised his hand again...
And suddenly stopped. The group looked where it was looking and found a man standing silently, holding a battle axe. All was still.
"Run away! That giant will crush you!" The man glared at Sagus.
"Be silent, fool! YOU!!" he shouted at Santonus, his face still looking like it was speaking at normal volume. But his voice was louder than it should've been able to be, which meant he must've augmented it with a spell. "WHERE CAN I FIND YOUR MASTER?" The stone giant laughed at him.
"I WILL TELL YOU NOTHING, INSECT. LEAVE OR BE SQUASHED WITH THESE OTHER ANTS."
"If you will not tell me, then I must kill you." Santonus laughed even harder. The man smirked and leapt high into the air, landing on Santonus' shoulder in a single jump. The mages and archer gasped, and even Santonus was left speechless.
"Die." The man swept his axe horizontally, which for a moment looked to have no effect. After a few seconds, Santonus' neck split open and his head fell to the ground behind him. The mystery axe-wielder jumped to the ground, landing on his feet and one hand as the body fell backwards. The adventurers could only look on in amazement as the man stood and faced them.
"You....that's not possible!"
"And yet, you just saw it happen."
Sagus came the closest to regaining composure. "You asked about the giant's master, which means you know it's Arakarin. Why?"
"That is my business. Not your's."
"Who are you?"
"Stradi."
THE Stradi!?
