They are interrupted before he sleeps.

Before she can finish the spell, a large explosion is in the front and minor explosion coming from everywhere. Then John sees what appears to woman warriors then a dagger hurls toward her. He puts his body in front of it, causing a wound.

She grabs a horse and him while one that threw the dagger chases after them. She yells orders defend road and meet me at the castle. She looks at him and suddenly see all of the blood rushing from him and gives him a smile.

She says, "I guess this teach you not to be curious."

He is about to say, "Am I going to ..."

She says "John, stay awake. I promise that I won't let you die at any cost."

We all of sudden come across other warriors that are female. Buffy yells a name and says "I am here for the life debt to be answered."

John, passes out as Buffy is frantic.
