Chapter 24 by Fencer
Is she found in time? And if so, by whom?
They all look the same.....(With Picture Link)
His name was Erillios. In the language of the True People, it translated as 'sad wanderer'. When the day of his naming before the Many-Armed Gods had arrived, barely a season ago, there had been no doubt about the name he would take to see him through the adult phase of his life. It could only be Erillios. He, of all the True People, knew that theirs was a doomed race, and that whatever they did, however hard they fought, their kind would soon be gone from the world. They would be swept away by the interloping humans. But where othere called for ****, and ****, he hoped his kind would die with quiet dignity, and not in an orgy of bloodletting.
His intelligence and his kindness had been respected and despised in equal measure among those of his tribe. The quiet, sad-eyed youth had been driven out, wordlessly, without any hand being raised against him: It simply became clear that as soon as his nameday had passed, and he became adult, he would leave. And so he wandered, a drifting member of a dying race. And he it was who found the brown skinned alien woman, soft full lips gaping feebly like a fish too long out of water, the banda thong so tight at her slender throat that the flesh around it was pale where it was strangling her.

The Lieutenant became aware of sensations. It was like climbing slowly out of an impossibly deep, black crevice, unsure of whether the dim light ahead was the surface, or a cruel illusion of safety. Air...sweet cool air....she could breathe, though her windpipe was tight and painful. A warm hand was stroking her throat, slowly and with great gentleness. One of the guards must have found her. There was warmth around her, penetrating the icy cold that lay on her bones like a funeral shroud. Water...she was lying in hot water, supported by strong arms. The faint brimstone scent of rising steam....this must be one of the thermal pools, heated by Tau-Ceti Two's lava pockets. She heard the a light, liquid splash and a sensation of delicious heat as a small amount of hot water was trickled over her neck, chest, and bare breasts. She was naked.....

Erillios nodded slowly to himself as he saw the alien woman's eyes begin to move under her closed eyelids, her soft, full lips part slightly. He had not known what to do once he had carefully cut the leather thong from her throat. Her skin had been ice cold, and he could not rouse her. So he had carried her to one of the Sacred Places, the hot pools where the True People were permitted to bathe without the Many-Armed Gods growing angry, and snatching them away to their deep realms. They were supposed to be places of healings and miracles, and though Erillios had long since lost his faith in the power of the Many-Armed ones, he could think of nothing better. The hot water could not do the dark skinned woman any harm, and might help warm life back in to her freezing body. It seemed to be working.....
He studied the woman carefully. Stripped of her tight garments, she looked exotic, ****, and desireable. Her face was sharp and delicately featured, with soft, very full lips. Her body was slender, the skin as dark as rich loam, and smoother than anything Erillios had ever felt before. She was even smooth between her slim thighs, only the faintest wavering line of soft, dark, downy hair leading to the soft, bald mound of her sex. A cold breeze on her wet skin tightened her nipples in to jutting buds, dark as langaberries.
It was strange to him that such a beautiful woman could be capable of such ****, **** without cause or remorse. He wondered what the True People could have done to anger the humans so....
A sudden cold impact, as if a cold fist had thudded in to his chest. Erillios had time only for a brief, puzzled smile as he saw his own hunting knife jutting obscenely from his flesh, his life's blood pumping around it to spread like a stain in the waters of the Sacred Place. The dark woman's fist was still clenched around the handle, and her midnight eyes blazed up at him with a look of alien hatred he would never understand. He shook his head with a slow, sad smile, as the darkness took him.

"Bastard"
The word was hissed from her painful throat as the Lieutenant pulled the blade clear of the corpse. Obviously, the alien had come back, and decided to have a little fun with her before she died. Perhaps **** a dead body was against their primative beliefs. She smiled grimly as she staggered to her feet, moving toward the pool's grassy bank in search of her clothing. She never looked back at the blue skinned creature she had killed. Even if she had, she would not have been able to tell he was different from the one who had tied the leather thong to her throat. They all looked the same to her.....
