They Should Stop

Emma wanted something real with Ian, not just sex. She was afraid that doing more might ruin that chance. She also knew that conversations regrading this always turned into the guy swearing that he thought she was special, and how he would "respect her in the morning".

Emma kept things simple, trying to spare both Ian and herself the indignity of playing out that scene. To Ian she simply said, "I really like you, a lot, Ian. But that's all that's going to happen. I think I should head back before it gets much later, but I really hope we can hang out before I head back. And maybe even after that." Emma topped it with a smile.

Her heart was heavy for a moment as Ian composed his words. She was dreading that he would try to push for more or try to somehow change her mind. But her worries were unfounded. Ian matched her smile and said, "I'd like that. I mean the part about hanging out more and seeing you even after you go back to school."

Oh my God, did I just get a boyfriend? Emma thought too herself.

It was far too early to start figuring any of that out yet. To Ian she said, "Thank you."

With the movie done, their day-date over, they made way to Ian's car. They talked and joked about the movie the whole ride home.

Back in the driveway of her aunt's house, the two kissed again. It went on for a good while, neither one of them wanting to part ways just yet. Finally Emma pulled away. "I should really get back inside. Jenny's probably done with school stuff."

Ian nodded, "Sure. Today was really great, Emma. Thank for hanging out."

Emma was all smiles as she headed back inside the house. She had to agree, today was really great.
