Chapter 28 by Vain Vain

Once again it's up to Jack to make his decision...

They're going to the stadium tonight

"Fine then..." Said Jack, after some time to ponder his decision, and noted the hint of surprise on Kimberly's face when he finally agreed to her suggestion. It was soon replaced with a wide smile however, as she ran off to see if she could find some tickets online to the match the same evening. "What's your code Jennie? I'll need your computer!"

"Hey, wait...!" Jennifer rolled her eyes, before crawling out of her sun chair and following her sister inside of the house. Meanwhile, Jack was left alone with Catherine, who gave him a curious look over the top of her sunglasses, as if wanting to ask him if he was serious about going. Instead of saying something she merely stepped out of her chair though, and apparently went to join the others in their search for tickets.

"I'm quite sure you said you were going to slack for the rest of the day...?" Her father asked her, just as she was about to enter the kitchen, to which she simply replied that she could probably sleep all the way through the match. She didn't say that she wasn't going to join them though, and for some reason Jack got the feeling that Jennie would go as well, if for no other reason than keeping them company.

So that's how they all ended up going to the restaurant by the stadium the same evening, after spending most of their afternoon lounging by the pool in their garden, and Jack was **** to admit he was quite enjoying the idea of doing something he liked, even if it cost a bit more than he could afford at the moment. Not that he was suddenly broke of course, but he really didn't like the idea of spending money on useless things while he didn't know for sure if he'd get another job soon enough.

He figured it could be seen as a last chance to do something fun with his family though, in case they were **** to live on their savings from now on, and decided to not let his worries affect his mood for this evening. Just the prices on the food was almost enough to make him turn at the door however, even if it wasn't actually an expensive looking restaurant, but luckily it seemed like even his three daughters were sensible enough to pick from cheaper options on the menu.

"This much for just a burger?" Said Catherine, when her plate arrived at their table, and poked around in the sparse meal for a moment before even tasting it. "And I thought we were good at swindling customers at my job!"

"It's pretty good though." Kimberly teased her, and laughed as her sister gave her a quick glare across the table. Meanwhile, Jennifer didn't even bother to comment on the menu, and just like Jack himself she seemed rather content despite the high price tag. The food itself really wasn't that bad after all, though it was easy to guess they'd never had this many customers, if it wasn't for the close proximity to the town's only stadium.

Some forty minutes later they were all done eating, and the match was just about to start when they made their way inside the relatively small arena. Their town wasn't all that big after all, and so it was quite understandable that they didn't have the most impressive stadium, but still it housed a lot more people than was currently coming to watch the game.

"It's practically just training." Kim explained to Kate and Jennie, while they were heading inside, but seemed like she was happy to be there either way. The others were a bit less enthusiastic, though at least they weren't complaining when they found some good seats at the fore, where they could see everything that was going on below.

"I think we forgot to bring snacks...?" The blonde girl suddenly noted, when she looked at some of the other spectators, and then pointed back to where they came from. "I'm sure there's a stand downstairs! Do you guys want some too?"

"Yeah, sure!" Both Kate and Jennie were quick to chime in, but seemed a bit less enthusiastic when they realized their orders would need more than one person to carry. They weren't even that interested in watching the game from the start, but once they'd taken their seats it seemed like they preferred to stay where they were...

It seems like Jack's going with her then, unless there's something else on his mind...?
