They'll have to swim

The three friends split up to explore the small pool. After a minute or two, Melissa called out to the other two, "Hey Tommy, Jill, come here!"

When Jill and Thomas drew close, they saw what Melissa had noticed. Three pipes were pouring water into the pool; that's what was creating the slight undertow that was dampening their feet. Water was gushing out of the pipes and into the pool at an astonishing pace.

"That's amazing," Jill said. "Where's all that water going?"

Melissa scanned the pool floor and pointed. "There," she said, one again leading the way.

On the other edge of the floor, three small holes were sucking water out of the pool just as fast as it was pouring in from the opposite side.

"I get it," Thomas said. "If we can plug these holes, we can stop up the drain. The pool will fill up, and we can swim out!"

"That is some _serious _suction," Jill said. "We can't, like, just cover those holes with our hands or feet."

"Yeah," Melissa agreed. "We'll have to stuff the pipes or something."

"Perfect!" Thomas shouted. "But, what do we have to plug them up with?"

A moment passed quietly. Then another.

"All we've got is our clothes," Jill said quietly.

"No fucking way!" Melissa shouted. "I'm already embarrassed enough as it is!"

"Calm down, Mel, let me think," Thomas said. What he wanted to think about was seeing his friend lose even more clothing, but he **** himself to problem solve instead.

"OK," he said after a few seconds. "Here's what I'm thinking. We need to sacrifice three pieces of clothing to get out of here. Option A is I give up my shirt and underwear, and Jill can give her underwear; that way, we don't actually have to show anything embarrassing."

"OK...." Melissa said, unsteadily. "What's Option B?"

"Well, I'm sorry I didn't think about it before," Thomas said apologetically, "But Option B could be we all give up our underwear, but I can go ahead and give you my shirt, Mel. That way you don't have to hold up your dress for the rest of the day."

"Which would be something to see while we're swimming, I'm not gonna lie!" Jill laughed.

"UGH," Melissa grunted. "Fuck. I hate both options."

"Well, unless you can think of something else, I say we go ahead and get a move on," Jill urged.

"FINE," Melissa said. "Let's, umm...."
