Chapter 43 by BreaktheBar BreaktheBar

What's next?

There are apologies, and then there are Apologies

“I’m sorry you were offended,” Zara said, her arms crossed as she blinked several times rapidly and tossed her red mane of hair to one side.

The three of you were in the parking lot. The guys in the other lane had left, moving on to some bar or club, and you, April and Zara had finished up your own round before deciding to call it. April was in charge of the plans for the night, so you weren’t sure if this was it or if there was another stop. When you’d gotten outside into the pleasantly cool evening air, however, April had stopped both of you at the front of your car.

“Zara,” April scoffed. “That’s not an apology and you know it.”

Zara made a face at April and then rolled her eyes. April didn’t back down however and just stared at her friend. The redhead wilted a little under her glare and glanced back at you. “I’m sorry I made you feel uncomfortable?”

“I-”

“Are you asking if you’re sorry, or are you telling him you’re sorry?” April interrupted you before you could accept.

Zara grit her teeth, looking at April again, then back at you. “Oliver, I’m sorry that I made you feel uncomfortable. It was wrong.”

“And?” April prompted.

“And what?!” Zara asked in exasperation.

“You sat your skinny little butt right in his lap,” April said.

Zara rolled her eyes again. “I’m sorry for sitting my skinny, perky, perfect ass on your lap.”

“And you led others to believe he’d be having a threesome tonight.”

“And for- Wait, why am I apologising for that?” Zara asked. “Those guys thought Oliver was the man for that.”

“Yeah, but he’s not having one, is he?” April asked. Then a look passed over her face, one you hadn’t seen before. “Unless he is.”

“What?” you asked.

Zara had her eyes locked with April, like they were the only two people in the world. “Unless he is?” Zara asked.

“Unless… he is?” April asked right back. Each time they said it their inflection changed.

“Unless he… is,” Zara said.

“Unless he is,” April nodded.

Zara frowned in a ‘Huh’ sort of way. “Unless he is.”

You pressed the car alarm button on your key fob and your car started honking and blinking its lights, making both ladies jump a little. Another press turned it off. “How about we start using full sentences again instead of BFF telepathy?” you suggested.

“Zara doesn’t need to apologise for that last part,” April said, turning and taking your hand in hers. “Is Hikaru home tonight, or is she out?”

“Um, I think she was working, but that would have ended a couple of hours ago. She might have had plans with Margot after.”

“OK,” April said, leading you towards the driver’s side door of your car. “Bring us to your place.”

“Oh… kay,” you said, letting her open the door for you. “Is this-?”

“Unless you are,” April said, smiling a little and raising her eyebrows.

“I am?”

Her grin got bigger. “You are.”

You got chills and felt like your back was sweating as you sat down. April got into the back seat behind you while Zara got into the back from the other side. “No one say anything,” April said.

Starting the car, you pulled out of the parking lot and headed towards your place. The quiet was… weird. Especially after how chatty both ladies had been all evening. Was what you were thinking happening really happening?

Had April and Zara just decided to have a threesome with you?

That couldn’t possibly be what was happening, right?

Right?

You opened your mouth to ask something, even if you weren’t sure what the first question coming out would be, but April put a hand on your shoulder from the back seat as you inhaled. “I need to say something to both of you separately. So just… trust me, baby.”

Letting out your breath silently, you glanced into the rearview mirror and saw April biting her bottom lip, her brow furrowed a little as she must have been thinking through what she wanted to say. Zara, meanwhile, also had her brow furrowed but she was staring right back at you in the mirror while she slowly slid her tongue back and forth along her lower lip.

“This is it,” you said, escorting the two women into your apartment. “Hikaru, are you here?” There wasn’t an answer, and you closed the door and locked it behind the three of you. “Guess she’s out,” you said.

“Good,” April said. She grabbed your hand and Zara’s and pulled you both deeper into the apartment, then softly pushed Zara towards the bathroom. “Wait one minute for me in there,” she ordered.

“Bossy,” Zara murmured but smirked a little and followed her friend’s direction. At the bathroom door, she turned back, looking over her shoulder and confirming that you’d both been watching her walk away. A look passed over her face again, hard to read, and then she went inside.

“April-” you started, but April shushed you and urged you towards your bedroom, shutting the door behind the two of you. She put her hands on your chest and backed you up until you had to sit on your bed and she was standing in front of you.

“Will you be my boyfriend?” she asked.

You weren’t sure what you’d been expecting but it wasn’t that. “Um,” you said, shaking your head once. “Yes. God, yes,” you said, reaching up and putting your hands over hers. “But-”

“Good,” she said, ploughing through. “Because I wasn’t about to be the kind of girl who hooks up with a ‘guy she’s seeing’ with her best friend, but sharing my boyfriend and his mammoth cock with my best friend when she needs a good dicking I can do.”

“OK, hold on,” you said. “Why is this happening?”

April leaned towards you, her bust brushing your chin as she kissed your forehead before pulling back. “Despite the fact that you’re pretty fantastic at sex, you haven’t had a lot of experience,” she said. “And I’m not exactly the town bicycle, but I also don’t think it’s fair that you’re so amazing and have only had sex with one person ever. And Zara… Zara has some personal stuff she needs to figure out, but the thing that matters now is that she’s never enjoyed sex before. Like, ever. And that’s really sad, but it’s also starting to really get to her, so she needs a really good fucking dicking. And, oh look, you happen to have a fucking fabulous one.” She’d slid her hand down to grope at the front of your slacks as she grinned impishly. “I love her. She’s my best friend forever. And I… you know.”

“I… know,” you said. It was so soon and saying it was scary.

“Thank you,” she said, then kissed you gently before pulling away, backing up to the door but not opening it. She bit her lower lip, looking concerned. “If this is something you don’t feel ready for, you can say no and I’ll figure it out. You can always say no.”

You let out a long breath you hadn’t realised you’d been holding. “Have you two ever…?” you half-asked.

“A little kissing back in high school,” April said. “Mostly to tease a boy. Never anything more than that. This’ll be a first for us.”

“And you’re sure about changing that?” you asked. “If it doesn’t… go well… Zara and I don’t have something that could… break. But I don’t want you to lose your best friend.”

“Oh, you sweet man,” April sighed, coming right back to you and cupping your face. “I’m offering you a threesome with a smokin’ hot model and you’re worried my friendship with her might get dinged up. I promise it won’t. Now do you think you can lay down some pipe on Zara and teach her what real sex is?”

“I’ll try,” you said.

“That’s all I need,” she grinned, then kissed you one more time before returning to the door and opening it. “Just… get comfortable on the bed, I guess. I’ll be right back. Boyfriend.”

“Girlfriend,” you responded with a grin of your own.
