There's only one golem he really cares about here.

Ross turned to Madison and studied her face. She smiled back and playfully stuck out her tongue. He idly played with the box containing the modifier script.

"So you're like, docile now?" he asked.

"Yeah," she said. "I'm still me, but everything feels sort of unreal. Like I'm in VR or I'm watching myself in a movie."

"Interesting..." Ross stared at her thoughtfully and she smiled back. Onstage Peter and Jerry were still frozen in angry scowls as they bickered about birds.

"Does it feel good? Tell me what it feels like."

She sighed and traced lazy circles on her thighs. "It feels great. It's like I'm not really curious, or imaginative... like that little thing in the back of your head that makes you stay up too late finishing a novel is-"

"Gone?" Ross interrupted.

"No, more muted. I just kinda zone out and don't really get bored. I can just sit here and not think."

"That feels good?"

Madison nodded. "For sure. I think a lot of what causes stress and anxiety is our imagination. I'm not really worried about anything because I'm just not thinking about my problems."

"Huh," Ross said. "Sounds nice. So you're less curious, huh?"

She nodded. "Definitely."

Ross turned and called out to a male golem standing about ten feet away. He whispered something into its ear and, with a nod, it walked away. He turned back to Madison, who was smiling sweetly.

"Are you gonna ask me what I said to that golem?" he probed. She shook her head.

"I don't care. I mean, I can if you want me to, but it's just not that interesting to me."

Ross thought for a second. "What if I told you it was about you? I told him something I've never said to anyone and it concerns you directly."

She thought for a second. "...ok. Yeah, I suppose I'd like to hear what you said to him."

"So you can be curious. What if I didn't want to tell you?"

She shrugged. "Eh, not a big deal. I can live without knowing. This is fun, you know? I like it when you mess with me like this. Most guys would just make me blow them."

Ross laughed. "Mads, babe, I have an army of beautiful golems ready to do anything for me at anytime and you think I'd just get a blowjob from you?"

She giggled a little. "I told you, not very imaginative. I'm not stupid like some modifier scripts make me, I just don't do much independent thinking. It never occurred to me that you might wanna use some of these other golems for sex stuff, but it sounds like fun."

"Can you think of something we can do with a few of them?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with curiosity in the dimness of the amphitheater.

"I just told you I'm not very good at that! Why would you... oh, it's a test. You could fuck them, I guess. Or I could fuck them? That's all I've got." She smiled and swayed a little. "Do you want me to fuck one of them?"

"Not right now," Ross said. "I'd like to screw around with you a little more while you're like this. Do you feel like you're less observant or perceptive now? Like, do you notice anything strange?"

Madison nodded. "I definitely do. Oh, my mom left already! Is that it? No, wait. What is going on over there?"

Behind Ross, on the hill that rose up from the back of the amphitheater, dozens of golems were vigorously fulfilling the request that he had whispered to the golem earlier. They were spread out across the neatly-trimmed grass, copulating frenetically in the moonlight.

"An orgy. I think it's been going on for at least a few minutes. You seriously just now noticed?"

She nodded and smiled. Ross marveled at her sheer incuriosity for a moment.

"You're right," he told her. "This is fun. It's like turning down the volume on your personality."

She nodded in agreement, so he continued. "Honestly, you know, a little Madison goes a long way sometimes. I wish I could do this anytime you start getting on my nerves, you know? Just flash that script and I don't have to deal with you anymore."

"That would be really nice," she agreed. "I'll bet I'm a lot less annoying like this."

Ross laughed. "You couldn't possibly be more annoying."

She frowned. "Wait, I... that's a shitty thing to say! You said I was annoying!"

"Don't you wanna know why?" Ross asked with a shiteating grin.

"Not really," she said. Her frown was once again replaced with a placid smile. "It just felt a little mean, is all."

He laughed. "So it seems like your sensitivity is reduced too. It takes a pretty blatant insult to get you mad. Wow, I hope your mom lets me keep this modifier."

She leaned into him and rested her head against his chest. "Me too," she said dreamily. "I like it."
