Chapter 49 by Almax Almax

Where do you aim?!

There's no point attacking unless you aim away from the armour!

You hold back on attacking for just a second, running your eyes along the monster trying to locate the best unarmoured spot to target. The joints, the tail, parts of the head, the legs.... yeah, the legs should be the place to go, they'll be both easy to hit and effective to damage!

Before you can make your strike, in the half-second you halted to contemplate, the monster somehow managed to fully recover. This thing's a monster! But the metaphoric sort. You notice just in time as it swings towards you with one of its arms, and as fully unsuspecting as you are, you know that it'll totally flatten you if it can land!

Time moves in slow motion as you go in to swing with your own attack, aimed at the monster's legs -- it's too fast and too close to avoid the hit, so this is the best you can do! Your {if@ Weapon == 2}hefty Sledgeaxe inches towards the monster,{elseif Weapon == 1}{if BatonVolt == True}sparking staff inches towards the monster,{else}arm swings out, baton sparking in hand, inching towards the monster's legs{endif}{endif} as the monster's scythe hooks around in a swing aimed for your side. You watch as both weapons get closer, closer..... argh, you can't watch anymore, you shut your eyes!

There's a clunk, as you feel a ripple of vibrations run up your arm from the impact of your own attack. Good! The worst thing that'll happen now is a tie! Feeling the success of your swing, you squeeze your eyes even tighter shut and tense up your body, preparing for....

doosh

......huh? doosh? That sounded kind of like something falling over onto gravel. You slowly open one eye to peek, and see the simulated monster scrambling unsuccessfully on its side in front of you, lying on the gravel path after you swept its legs out from under it. It didn't get to follow through with its attack!

You've seen how quickly this thing can recover, so you take no chances in quickly moving to finish it off with a {if@ Weapon == 2}final hefty blow{elseif Weapon == 1}series of baps{endif} to the simulated monster's unarmoured head.

"RRAAAAAARRRRRR!!!" You yell, swinging down with all you've got.

You step back, panting heavily after the way you just exerted yourself to the max, and watch. You keep your grip tight and your arms ready, just in case, but the monster doesn't move from the ground.

.....You did it! You really just beat a monster one-on-one, in your first ever fight against one! Go you, that's so cool!!

You jump up and down a few times, doing a little happy dance of celebration and getting all of the goodfeels out in the open by moving as much as possible. YEAH! You look around to see if anybody's clapping for you, but instead, you see that the battle's still going on in other parts of the area -- in an instant, you wisen up and get your focus back on. Right, there's still a class going on, and your classmates need you help! You can be happy about how cool you are after.

In a grass a short bit behind you, Cameron's fighting one of the two remaining monsters and (you think) winning. He's using his bladed shields to punch it really hard, and he's also defending himself quite well with them, so he isn't getting hit that much. The only issue is that most of his attacks are landing on the monster's armour, so even though he's winning, it might take him a while.

On the other side of you, Delilah's still fighting her monster on the bridge. At the moment it looks pretty neck and neck -- every attack that Delilah tries with her sickles either gets blocked by the scythes or hits the monster's chitin harmlessly, and every attack that the monster tries either gets blocked by the sickles or has Delilah jump out of its way in an outrageously show-offy fashion. Even though they've been fighting the longest out of everyone, it still looks like neither side has landed a big hit.

Well, okay! You take a deep breath, set your shoulders, and march off in the direction of where you're most needed. You're ready to do your best again!

Where do you go to help?
