Chapter 98 by Drakavius Drakavius

What's the idea?

There's Something Different About Her

“Those earrings look absolutely gorgeous on you.” The gushing punk styled girl grimaced happily as Katrina found herself muddied in a daze now wondering when the staffer had noticed and approached her.

“False Idol’s right?” Gia knowingly remarked provoking a puzzled look upon Katrina’s face.

“Uh… yeah…” Katrina replied with suspicion, her soul gathering whatever it could cling to to raise insecurity and alarm.

“They’re a brand new line in the store, my apologies for K'Sha not knowing about them. We’ve yet to teach her about them. 10 staff in the store, new products each week. Never enough hours in the day.” Gia prattled on, the deliberate nonsense spewed to buy time and alleviate the alert she was sensing under the haze of corruption Katrina's mind was under.

“Uh yeah… I was uhm wondering what else they had.” Katrina eventually replied awkwardly considering how odd it might look to try fleeing at this point.

“Excellent right this way. Are you looking for yourself, a family member, loved one?” Gia asked politely as Katrina followed her to the display case built into one side of the cashier’s counters in the middle of the store.

“I’m not really sure actually…” Katrina replied, the growing doubt in her mind spooking up and clinging to as much of this awareness that she had been lead in by blind instinct, desirously seeking an unclear wanton of desire.

“Well, we have an assortment of wrist charms, neck charms, and piercings available.” Gia offered in her best professional sales pitch, if Katrina had looked more inclined to Wicca or spirituality she would have gone on about how each one was imbued to gift its wearer differently, or even a charm.

Looking over the assorted necklaces Katrina found herself drawn to pick them all out, the compulsion to collect them creating anxiety within Katrina as her soul and conscience tried to restrain her from the compulsion.

“You look kind of stressed, might I suggest this one.” Gia offered after a moment, curious as to just what effect the earrings had made upon their wearer, while eagerly looking to add to it. “It not only ties into your earrings, its also said to relieve stress and tension from holding a person back.”

Gia smiled, she had seen the rune woven in the intricate metal work the night before. If she recalled the book had said it meant freedom, her enhanced devotion to the Idol made her aware it really meant Uninhibited.

Katrina liked the sounds of the necklace, a proverbial amulet relieving her of stress and tension but she didn’t come here to buy anything… Did she?
