Their first flight

Benjamin walked out in front of the workers and said, “Alright kids. This will be your first time outside.”

The girls responded by talking to each other and asking one another questions about the oncoming excursion. Some, like Bella, even buzzed with their wings from excitement.

“We will first head through a passage that has been protected by your aunt.” Benjamin continued, raising his voice so the girls could better hear him. “You will follow me through that passage single file. Make sure to memorize the way, if you don’t you will end up getting caught by the web. If you do get caught, don’t struggle and wait for Webby to get you loose.”

After his warnings, Benjamin exited the hive and Rebecca watched her daughters follow him, one by one. When the last worker had left, Rebecca joined and followed her daughters out of the hive, with Webby following right after her. Billy and Tobias instead decided to stay home and expand the hive.

Heading through the passage made Rebecca think of the first time she got here. She had just lost her clothes to that carnivorous plant and had to crawl through it naked. She was merely a virgin daughter queen back then, and at times it already felt rather tight at places, but she still managed to get through. This time, there were two moments where she thought she would be stuck.

Once outside, Rebecca saw the labyrinth of webs Webby had made. She followed the daughter in front of her, with her spider friend right behind her, tracing her legs on the strings of webbing as she progresses until suddenly Webby said, “Yup, caught one.” With a smile. The girls continued on their way, until they come across one of Rebecca’s daughters that had her hair stuck in some webs. Webby quickly helped her get loose and repaired the damage that was done.

Eventually, Rebecca and all of her daughters made it outside of the web. That is where Benjamin gave them their first flying lesson. It was quite simple, really. All they had to do is use their wings and hover slightly above the ground. Then Benjamin performed some small maneuvers and they followed. Single file again. Once Benjamin was happy with their flying, he flew up high, so the lot of them could have a view of the surroundings.

“If you look down, you will see a square tree.” Benjamin told his daughters. “The hive we call our home is below it. Make sure you remember this tree, what it looks like, where it is, and you will always find your way back home. Now, if you look a bit further, you will see a mountain, that has the same square structure as the tree above our home. That too is an important landmark. Not only will it help you find your way home, but this mountain is also surrounded by lots of flowers.”

After explaining the girls where they were going and how to get back home, Benjamin flew over to the flowers that surrounded the square mountain, all of his daughters and Rebecca right on his tail.
