What happens next?

The transparent trap

After Liz vanquished the mugger, she started feeling good about herself.

So what if she was naked? The sun was shiny, the birds were singing and there did not seem to be any people around.

I probably could walk home naked if I wanted to, thought Liz. But then there would be all that awkwardness at the front door and having to explain what happened to my clothes just doesn't seem like my idea of fun.

Besides, sooner or later Liz was bound to encounter a crowd of people and it would be nice to find clothing or shelter before that happened. If only there was something that she could put on for coverage. Maybe a lost towel or a blanket or -- Wait a minute! Did somebody leave a dress leaving on the sidewalk?

She walked up to the item and saw that it was indeed a dress. A blue dress. And it appeared to be in her size. Her modesty was saved.

Now all she had to do was to put it on and -- Hey! Wait a minute! she thought. Who in their right mind would leave a dress this expensive just lying on the sidewalk? It was almost like bait for a trap. But what kind of trap? And what was it intended to catch?

Liz found herself putting down the dress and slowly backing away. But then she felt a sharp sting on her left buttock and she realized that she had seen through the obvious trap just a few seconds too late.

She started to run away but the running only accelerated the progress of the **** that had been inserted into her via a tranquilizer dart. Her vision started blurring and she felt far too dizzy to stand. As she collapsed upon the sidewalk, she saw a group of men wearing asbestos suits rushing to surround her. She tried to summon up the energy to go all Johnny Storm on them but instead she found herself losing consciousness.

The last thing she saw before she blacked out was the sight of a middle-aged white guy in a black suit who had one arm in a cast. He kept staring at her for some reason.

Why is he doing that? she wondered. Does he know me?

Then she saw nothing but darkness...
