The swinging blades are a breeze

The double doors opened directly into the next chamber, though it looked markedly different that the previous one. For one thing, it lacked almost all of the floor that the previous chamber featured, save for a thin stone strip straight down the middle, a seemingly bottomless abyss on either side of it. The walls, stretching down into the pits further that Fiorayne could see, had wafer-thin vertical recesses set at different distances all across the room and extending clear across the ceiling. Their function became clear immediately upon Fiorayne stepping on another pressure plate, with each of them releasing a heavy, semi-circle blade swinging from a beam, back and forth across the room.

Intimidating at a glance, but not much of a hazard for a Knight of Fiorayne's caliber. With a clear path ahead of her, it was a simple matter for the Dame to dash past each blade as it swung, her keen mind trained to recognize the timing of hazards far more fearsome than this, such as the rapid-fire fisticuffs of a raging Rajang, or the frankly frustrating tackles from an Espinas. Her body too, had been tempered by blades at the end of giant crab's claws and razor sharp scales launched by the dozen. A handful of swinging glaives was a good show, but not a challenge for the experienced hunter, and as such she was across in no time at all! The only casualty, Fiorayne took note, was the headband, it's impractically long tail getting caught on one of the swinging poles and swiftly untying, whisked away into the walls never to be seen again.

"Hardly a loss," Fiorayne said aloud, a touch of smugness creeping into her voice, and though she had no reason to believe the Cohoots could so quickly relay a message, almost hoped the Nobleman would be able to hear her, as she began down another long, dark dungeon hallway.
