The stranger calls

It is a rough night but you must have fallen asleep at some point since you end up waking with a stiff back, your mind still haunted by bad dreams. There is no sun yet but the sky glows, illuminating the interior of the car. The light breathing of Jessica draws your gaze and you see her wearing your shirt and shorts.

Not a bad dream, reality. You knew it too vivid to have been a dream but you had hoped. She got her gender back for getting you pregnant. You rub your eyes feeling the familiar sting of tears. Why were you always so sensitive to them now? You do not even try answering your own question not liking the answer. You are not given time to think about it any way since at that moment your phone rings.

"Hello?" comes your girly voice stirring Jessica from her sleep.

"Tough luck girl," it is the stranger again. "It was a good effort though."

Jessica, now awake, glares at the phone as she hears the voice. The voice switches over to address her, "Jess, congratulations on being a father or is it mother?" The stranger laughs at their own joke.

Neither of you are in the mode for talking let alone laughter at your expense and glare harder at the phone. Too bad looks cannot kill in person or over the phone but once again the strange does not care how you react. "It has been fun you two and I hope you enjoy being a mommy," the call ends.

The two of you look at each other unsure what to do next.
