Chapter 12 by Moot Moot

The silly house

Jessica ran down the dark tunnel, her footseps made loud echoes. The tunnel wrapped round to left where a bright green light shone out of it. As Jessica ran round the corner, she saw a hole at the end of wall where a stall was. She took a moment to catch her breath, and then approached the stall. A big sign above the stall said "Silly House!". Jessica rolled her eyes as she walked over to the stall in the tunnel. "You must be joking..." She muttered, embarassed by how ridiculous this place was.

When she reached the stall, she looked around. There was a closed bright red door to her left. Inside the stall was a small reception desk, a computer and a cash register. A fairly obese middle aged woman was asleep on a chair behind the stall. She had very messy and unkept red hair that looked like it hadn't seen a brush in years. She wore black jeans and a black top.

Jessica awkwardly stood there and watched the woman sleep. She noticed there was a bell on the desk with a sign next to it saying "if I'm asleep press me." Jessica pressed the bell. The woman awoke with a sudden. "Huh! What!? Oh! A customer, how can I help?" She asked Jessica in a very friendly high pitched voice.

Jessica cleared her throat. "I'm in a bit of trouble and I was wondering if I could lay low here for a bit...?" She asked, **** for a way out. Her current plan would be to stay here for a few nights and let things calm down. "What kind of trouble?" The woman asked, her tone was now more concerned and cautious. "These disciplinary officers, they're everywhere, and they want me for some reason.." Jessica explained, she tried to give the bare minimum explanation.

The woman raised her eyebrow, she could tell Jessica hadn't told the full truth. She remained calm, there was protocols for situations like this. The woman smiled and pulled out a booklet, she slammed it on her desk. "We can take you in, but you'll be subject to the entire system we have at the silly house, you'll also be reduced to the lowest level, sign here to accept and I'll let you in." She explained to Jessica.

Normally this would concern Jessica, but with all the shenanigans this place seemed to give off, she didn't take the woman seriously. She swiftly grabbed the pen and signed the agreement, not a care about what she signed up for. She knew whatever it was, it couldn't be that bad right? Nothing would be worse than losing a dream job...
