The sensors work fine... Kinda.

The turbolift doors open up and welcome you to the bridge. The viewscreen was on and displayed a beautiful view of Earth. Regardless of all the past tragedies in the planet's history the image of the calm blue orb always had this calming effect like no other.

Captain Delvok was waiting for you at the chief science officer's console as eagerly as any emotionless Euleri could.

"Hello again, Capt. Delvok." You greet him cheerfully.

"Hello, ensign," he replied in his monotone voice. "In order for Astrofleet to assess your competence as chief science officer, I'll need you to calibrate all ship's sensors prior to launch."

"They're already calibrated last I checked."

"They were calibrated. I've instructed the computer to uncalibrate most of the sensors in order to test your resolve."

"That could take hours for a single person, sir."

"It would take approximately three hours and thirty-two minutes for someone of your reported caliber."

Your eyes go wide at the unnecessary amount of busy work that you were just given. "Can I enlist help? The ship is scheduled to launch in one hour."

"No. This assignment is meant for you alone. I suggest you start now."

"Yes, sir." You groan and start working as fast as you can.

Since you have limited time available, you run through all sensors vital to the functions of the ship. Not too many of those were altered since the crew would certainly notice and cause a lot of unneeded stress. After almost an hour passes, you hear Captain Miller requesting permission to leave dry dock. You quickly double check the work you've done to make sure the ship doesn't tear itself apart from reading the wrong data. You barely had enough time to warn the captain if there was an issue by the time she gave the signal to engage the warp drive.

The ship is safe for now and the captain of science still looms over your shoulder as a constant reminder that you're being tested. At least you were ahead of schedule in terms of his prediction. He might just be a little impressed by the time you finish.
