The seaside

I didn't think I was ready for the big city yet, but hopefully along the coast there would be smaller settlements, maybe where I could find someone to advise me on what to do here. So, when my bear feet touched the warm ground after the long glide, I set off towards the sea.

After what felt like about a day's travel. I arrived there. The coast was a mixture of high black stone cliffs, and sandy beaches. There was something oddly alien about the way the violet waves lapped at the shore, like the caress of a lover's tongue. There was no smell of salt in the air.

Above, winged things I hoped were birds soared. Out to sea, I thought for a moment I saw a ship, but it was far enough away that I couldn't be sure.
