You decide to enjoy the quiet, cold autumn night, and take the gravel path down by the river, through the park. It's deserted here, and you walk in peace, thinking about Riley and the other women at home. You wonder if she talks about you?

Suddenly there is some sort of commotion up ahead. You hear screams and start running towards them. Four kids, young teenagers, it seems, are kicking a senior as he lies on the ground, shouting for them to stop. Are they robbing him, or is it just random **** ? You are not sure.

You notice a knife in one of their hands. Still, it looks like you should be able to stop them, after all you are a grown man and they are just kids. Shit.

You don't really have a choice here, do you?

No.

You channel your inner action hero, and charge the kids, screaming loudly while flaring your arms.

"LEAVE THAT MAN ALONE, YOU FUCKERS!"

"Oh, fuck, he's crazy," one of the kids say and they scramble, leaving the old guy **** on the ground. You can't help but feel a bit proud about yourself, having fought off the perps. Then you turn your attention to the victim. Unfortunately, the man has been injured in the altercation and is in need of medical attention. You quickly call the police and an ambulance, explaining the situation to the operator. An ambulance arrives quickly, and two EMTs are able to stabilize the old man.

"Thanks for taking swift action," one of them say. "We have to hurry to the hospital, but a police patrol is on its way. Please wait here, and give a detailed statement about the perps."

"Of course," you say. You've always been a law-abiding person, and you're not going to stop tonight.

While you wait, however, you catch a glimmer in the corner of your eye. Something almost otherworldly, that shouldn't be here. You bend down to take a closer look and under some leaves you find a golden ring! It must belong to the old man. He must have dropped it when he was attacked.

It's as if you hear a quiet whisper of your name in the wind, and the ring feels warm in your hand. It's like it's calling out for you, **** for you to put it on.

But it's not your ring, of course.

Finally the cops arrive.
