The safer choice?

As much as she hated the idea, Natalie came to the realisation that leaving Helen's body and possessing Adam was the safest choice. Surely Helen would return to her own body at some point? Being in Adam's body meant she'd still have access to the book and could find out whatever Helen was really planning to do. And anyway, why had Helen repossessed her at all?

Her mind made up, Natalie recited the caretaker soul spell and relinquished control of Helen's body to it. She sent instructions in her mind for it to sort out the bed and allow the real Helen to retake control of her body without resistance.

After a momentary pause, Natalie peeled her spirit away from Helen's body, causing it to judder slightly. She briefly watched the caretaker soul throw on a dressing gown and busy herself with the stained and sweaty bedsheets, before sinking through the floor to the living room below.

Natalie felt a mixture of frustration at having to inhabit yet another body that wasn't her own but also excitement. The prospect of inhabiting Adam's male body was an enticing and arousing one. Natalie drew herself closer to the slumbering man and considered what she was about to do.

She felt a flicker of panicked consciousness from Adam but quickly shut it down. His mind sinking back asleep, Natalie locked it away, ensuring he would only wake up should she wish it.

Now fully in control, Natalie shifted her newly stolen body to sit upright on the sofa. The first thing she noticed was how much bigger and more solid she felt. Natalie used Adam's larger hands to brush the hairs that covered his toned arms.

"Looks like you've continued to work out," Natalie chuckled. "Fuck, my voice is so much deeper now!"

Natalie continued to explore her ex-boyfriend's masculine form for some time, until eventually a certain part of the male anatomy demanded her attention.

"Yes I'm me," Helen confirmed with a sigh. "I got bored of being your ex again and just replaced the faulty caretaker soul. Is that better for you?"

Natalie did her best not to react too strongly to this new information. So Adam had helped her in a way and sent Helen to fix the submissive stand-in. She felt a little grateful of this, but that did little to diminish her anger at having her body forcefully taken over. Equally, Helen was more concerned about being left to use the spellbook as she wished, than letting Natalie have her body back.

"That is, thank you," Natalie eventually replied. It was hard to hold back her anger, but knew that letting it show would only risk revealing herself.

"Did you do anything with my body whilst I was away?" Helen said, a hint of confusion in her voice. "My... body feels a bit weird and sweaty."

"No," Natalie answered, this time having to mask her amusement, "I've been down here the whole time. I've left the soul to it."

"That's strange. I'm going to have to check the caretaker soul spell again. This magic is harder to use than I thought." Helen turned to leave the room, but Natalie quickly interjected to stop her in her tracks.

"So when are you going to let Natalie have her body back?"

"For fuck's sake, Adam!" Helen almost shouted. "Can you stop going on about that? I've just sorted out the caretaker soul spell and I'll eventually look for something to erase her memory of the spellbook. You know we can't let her have control of her body again without risking her interfering. We were lucky we stopped her yesterday."

Natalie couldn't help but flinch at how firmly Helen shut things down. She understood her logic and probably would have done the same were she in Helen's position. That didn't stop Natalie from resenting her though.

"Okay," Natalie muttered." Despite being in Adam's larger body, she had never felt so small.

"Why do you so concerned about what happens to her anyway? I thought you didn't care about her anymore?"

Natalie felt as if a dagger had been plunged into her heart. Memories of Adam dumping her flooded back into her mind. How he had said the relationship wasn't working. How she had shamefully begged him not to break up with her. How he had suddenly been so cold and moved on so quickly to Helen.

Natalie narrowed her eyes at Helen and felt a rage building inside of her. Her relationship with Adam had been fine until she entered the picture. A rush of vengeful ideas popped into Natalie's mind. With control of Adam's body she could do so much to hurt Helen.

"Well, Adam?" Helen asked impatiently.
