The power of persuasion

"Here, Chris. Why don't you have a seat and I'll get you a beer." Lisa spoke reassuringly and gestured to the couch. Chris wasn't sure he liked the look of Lisa's friends -- especially the intimidating Sally -- but he sat down as Lisa stepped into the kitchen for a moment.

She reappeared a moment later with a mug of beer, and handed it to Chris. "Here you go," Lisa added, and sat down next to him.

"Are you sure it's okay? I mean I'm only eighteen."

"Of course it is," she reassured him. "This is college -- everybody just expects it."

"Well, I guess you're right."

"Of course I am. Don't worry about it." Lisa rubbed his arm, encouraging him.
