The party continues excitedly.

Eventually, Joseph greeted the last guest, and the party really started. Mr. Clemon (being alumni of this fraternity) has actually been to four of these parties in the past. The party NORMALLY is more of a formality than an actual party, and it serves three purposes.

To reunite the Brother/Sister Fraternity/Sorority at the start of the semester.

To introduce all the new pledges as their first task as pledges is to work the party.

To introduce all the latest full members.

If you haven't noticed, 'having fun' is not one of those purposes. As a result, every party member usually is really stiff while trying to be on their best behavior. In years past, It would take hours for everyone to get drunk enough actually to start talking to each other. However, that is a normal start of the year party, and this was anything but a normal 'start of the year' party.

For starters, 'normal party' for active members only; however, this party had more alumni than active members.

And secondly, and probably more obvious, in a normal party, the pledges would wear formal business wear whiles walking around the party holding platers of food. However, in this party, the female pledges still walked around holding food platers; however, they were dressed in lingerie while male pledges followed them collecting bids to buy them.
