The one that took control

In life, there have been times when she decided to maybe drink more than it was recommended, having to wake up in the aftermath, ready to deal with past “her” mistakes, and present “her” having to recover from those decisions. This was one of those days it seemed with the feeling of something being very wrong; the floor after all was a little too rough to be any kind of bedroom, so in what kind of trouble has she gotten herself into?

Looking upwards she was then surprised by seeing, well, nothing she could recognize, and apparently she was right now lost in some kind of hangar? Probably? Whatever the case may be she was completely lost and her headache was not helping her, but before she could try to stand up she saw something, or better said, someone that made some part of her brain try to stand up and ran away as fast as she could. She simply ignored that part.

“Holy Moly, that costume is awesome!” And it was, it was basically the best costume she had ever seen of Batman in her life, heck, not even those crazy costumes she saw whenever she saw cosplay pictures on the internet were as cool as this, not to mention that the guy truly made the costume work, what with the blank eyes with no pupils right now glaring at her. How the hell was he able to do that?

But whatever the man would say or do something else caught her attention, one man, dressed as if it had come straight out of a pulp film was right now aiming at the two of them with a tommy gun, really? A tommy gun? It may be a prop maybe, but something in the back of mind, that same part that told her to escape, was right now pointing at the gun saying REAL GUN! So she could only act, just, not in the way that small little voice wanted.

“Look out!” That got everyone’s attention, alongside her taking the first thing she had on hand and throwing it in the direction of the mobster, in this case a mallet that hit the guy directly, sending him into the floor knocked out. It was this action that made the other people in the hangar snap out of it and take their guns out, with the guy dressing as Batman quickly dashing away, with her deciding that was a good idea as the two of them took different directions.

The next few seconds were just a blur, with her not having any idea of what was going on, the only thing she knew was that she was out of the hangar, but she didn’t know what was going on, she had lost the sense of time and what had just happened between her standing up in the hangar and her walking on an alleyway was a blur, she only knew that she was so tired.

As she finally decided to stop, she noticed that she was close to a window, and what she saw reflected on it made her stop completely, because she could have stood there and made a joke about her reflection being someone else, but she wasn’t in the mood of a joke, which was an incredible huge irony even if she wasn’t aware of it.

What first caught her attention was the fact that, well, she was a ‘she’; she was pretty sure that just a few hours ago she wasn’t a member of the fairer sex, but the second thing, the most incredible thing, was the fact that she was dressed as someone she knew very well, but only from comics and animated films. She was wearing a red and black harlequin suit, complete with a domino mask and white paint. She was none other than Harleen Quinzel, the one and only Harley Quinn.

“Toto, I think we are not in Kansas anymore… we are in Gotham City.”
