Was there really a strange cult in search of some victims? Or would some monsters suddenly appear from the shadows?

He regretted not having been able to learn anything about the setting of the world before getting it. The starting cut-scene had been more a flashy ad for the game than a true introduction. The character selection taught him nothing and he had yet to find anything looking like a tutorial or a wise elder dishing out advice and lore on each interaction.

More worrying than to be bound in such **** position and outfit was the fact that he couldn't see anything that wasn't directly in front of him. The moonlight was bright enough that someone could act at night albeit with a slight difficulty, probably by design. But his head could barely turn and he had no sight on any of his body but his hands.

He hoped that the fact that the guard had left him there meant it was somewhat safe. Having only fought bandits so far, he had no clue about what kind of monster could roam this place. But he was about to get his first and he hoped not his last lesson in fantasy biology.

Something had just moved on the side of the temple. He had to squint, but something had definitely exited some small grate at the side of the wall and was making its way towards him, keeping to the angle between the wall and the street, half hidden behind some grass and weeds growing there.

They, because there were two of them, finally got into view. Those were the archetypal fantasy beginner monster: slimes.

As they got closer to him he got a notification. New monster discovered: corrupted slime

He quickly opened his codex to look for more information. That the creature type was slime, the subtype corrupted and that the easiest way to kill it was to remove or break their core was something he could have pretty much guessed without the codex entry. Multiple hidden entries were showing only question marks.

The slow creatures continued their advance and got out of sight under him. Stuck in place, naked and unable to defend himself he started think about the deluge of insults he would dish upon his sister and her devi friends when he died and got out of the game.

Closely after, something moist and slimy touched his foot. He shook it away. Even like this his instinct was to try to fight. He couldn't imagine letting himself die doing nothing. He repeated the maneuver a few times, seemingly keeping the creatures at bay.

Suddenly he heard some weird sound.
