The next two stops (TAKE YOU SOMEWHERE)

You collect Margarita and Olivia a little late. They're giggly, and Margarita looks flushed. With Olivia's darker skin, it's harder to tell, but she seems a little bright-eyed. And you catch a whiff of girl juice left after their hurried wash-up.

You're frankly a little jealous. You're not sure if Poppy has caught on to what's going on between the younger women.

The stop at the church fellowship hall ends up being extra busy. You recall from your early experiences riding the outreach bus that there was just a factor of luck. Sometimes a given stop would have one or two takers, and it ended up being a lazy stretch for chatting, and sometimes, another week at the same location, things didn't stop until you had to turn folks away. This time is one of the busy ones.

You assign Margarita and Olivia to doing the vital signs and simple tests. Poppy does the private consultations in the little office in the back of the bus, things like pregnancy tests and birth control counseling. You end up directing traffic, fetching supplies, asking the church janitor to get more chairs for the people waiting and fill up the water and iced tea coolers.

Finally you have to wrap things up, assuring the folks who couldn't make it that the health outreach bus will be back another day, or they can catch it at one of the other stops.

The stop at the grange hall is a little more relaxed. Older folks wanting to chat, making sure their blood pressure is in good shape. Then there's a flurry of younger women in square dance dresses. One of them is visibly pregnant and goes back for a chat with Poppy.

You realize after more folks arrive for the dance that there are practically no men showing up dressed to dance, and that some of the women are dressed up in vests, pants, and Western ties. The few men present are either musicians or there to help set up the sound system and arrange the hall. You frown. What kind of square dance is this?

You look again at the poster for tonight's event. It's a women's square dance event. A LESBIAN event.

You blink in surprise. The countryside has come a long way in a few years. Or maybe this was always a thing, and now it was big enough to need the grange hall.

Now that you're looking, you can see some of the women here for the event are casting eyes over at the nurses set up in the corner. And some of the women here for health checks are, well, flirting. Mostly with Olivia and Margarita, but you're not getting ignored.

It's getting close to time to put things away. Olivia and Margarita want to stay for the dance, but your only ride is the bus.

On a 7-9, there will be some trouble, cost, or complication. Maybe you'll have to leave early, or be dropped off long past midnight. Or perhaps the bus has broken down and you'll have to stay for a while anyway. If you MISS, Poppy will leave and you can choose to stay, but you will have to GET OUT OF TROUBLE later in order to make it home.
