The next morning

It took a long time for Sakura to fall asleep, she couldn't help but replay the entire day in her head, trying to figure out where they had gone so wrong. After hours of crying and thinking, Sakura finally passed out and dreamed that she had passed Kakashi's little test with flying colours. Sasuke was so impressed by her performance, he asked to meet after dark. Sasuke was walking towards her with longing on his face, he was smiling at her, he reached out his hand, he- Sakura was woken up by her parents barging into her room. Sakura dashed to cover herself with a blanket, just barely remembering she was nude in time.

"So? How did your first meeting go as an official meeting?! You were asleep before we could ask last night!" Sakura's father, Kizashi Haruno, asked with excitement in his eyes. Sakura's mother was standing near her husband with a look of equal interest.

Sakura gulped and began, "Well, my Jonin wanted to be sure we had what it took to be ninja under his command..." Sakura stopped when she saw her parent's encouraging smiles falter for a moment. "He didn't think we had what it took, actually. He decided my team and I are going to spend another year at the academy..." Sakura trailed off, not willing to disclose more information on what really happened the previous day.

"Oh Honey, I'm so sorry to hear that. Did he say why you didn't pass?" Mebuki, Sakura's mother said with pity in her voice.

"No, he was hoping I'd be able to figure it out while we were at the academy," A thought sparked in Sakura's mind, "do you know what time it is? Kakashi sensei wanted us to be at the academy at 8."

"Don't worry, it's only just past 7, you have time, get dressed then come down for breakfast." Her Dad said with a pained smile. It was clear Sakura's parents felt sorry for their daughter. With that, they left Sakura's room, leaving her to get dressed.

Sakura sighed with relief. She got out of bed and walked over to her windows. She closed them quickly and began looking for something suitable to wear back to the academy. She settled for a simple red dress and her usual black shorts. Nothing too crazy.
