The next day at school.

“Everyone…” the Principal said “Mrs. Collins was in an accident last night. Her car got rear ended by a drunk driver. Her and her husband will be in the hospital for the forseable future. So, please welcome your substitute teacher for chemistry, Mrs. Kenmore.

“Oh… great… a sub…” Jessica thought to herself.

Then the woman walked into the room

“Kelly?” Jessica said quietly.

The two made eye contact, but Kelly quickly broke it.

“Yes.. hello, everyone. I’m Mrs. Kenmore, I’ll be taking over as your chemistry teacher.”

She took roll call and paused for a moment on Jessica’s name.

The two women tried to avoid communicating for most of the class, though when the bell rang, Jessica stayed behind.

“Fancy seeing you here…” Kelly told her. “You got a minute?”

“Actually this is supposed to be study period for me, so you’ve got me for the next 45 minutes…”

“Well… that’s fortunate…” Kelly said “you… are 18, right…?”

“18 and four days…” she said

“Wow…” Kelly said “to think my twins are older than you.”

“You’re married?”

“Well, I am Mrs. Kenmore…” Kelly said, stressing the honorific of a woman who is head of a family.

“True…”

“Jessica… since you know my secret… I need to ask a favor… may I have some Pap from you?”

“Uh… sure…” Jessica said “if you’ll let me have some of yours…”

“We’re going to need a quiet place to do this?”
