The next day, at ESU...

The next day, Gwen went straight to the two best scientific minds she knew. Doctor Peter Parker -- Ph.D. in physics -- had been Gwen's favorite professor at Empire State University, and she looked up to him as an intellectual role model. While Peter was a genius, he also had a kind and generous heart. Then there was Doctor Reed Richards, one of the most brilliant minds in the world. While he would often become too focused on his work, he could always be counted on to help those in need.

"Gwen? Look, I'd love to sit down and chat, but Reed & I are kinda in the middle of a pretty huge project right now..." Peter said apologetically.

"It's important," Gwen pressed. "I think our universe is in danger, and I have to try to stop it. What do you know about incursions?"

Peter paused and looked at Reed. They'd been investigating strange readings from what they thought was another dimension, and they'd been considering an incoming incursion as a possible explanation.

"What do *you* know about incursions?" Peter asked Gwen.

"Less than you, I'm guessing" Gwen admitted. "I know about them because of a vision I had."

"A vision? Like, a dream?" Peter asked.

"Something like that, I guess," Gwen shrugged. "A woman appeared in my room last night and told me our universe was pretty much going to slam into another. Since I've actually had some experience traveling between dimensions, I'm apparently the one who's gotta stop it..."

"I see. This is worrying," Reed said. "Peter and I have picked up some extradimensional readings that line up with my theories about incursions."

"So incursions are a real thing?" Gwen asked.

"Theoretically, yes," Reed said. "Obviously, I've never seen one, as I've never traveled between realities. But everything I've studied over the years indicate that they are possible, although the chances of one actually happening are virtually non-existent. Or, at least, they're supposed to be..."

"Apparently not," Gwen said. "So what should I do? I mean, how can I stop it? This is so much bigger than anything I've ever dealt with, even when I've jumped between universes."

Reed thought for a moment. "If you placed an interdimensional monitor in this other universe, Peter & I might be able to track its movement..."

"So you need me to visit this dimension and leave some sort of gizmo there? I can do that," Gwen agreed.

Reed nodded. "If you can get some more concrete info of this other universe for us, Peter & I can get to work on developing countermeasures for this incursion."

"Welp, looks like we've all got a lot of work ahead of us," Peter said. "Come back and talk to us tomorrow, Gwen. hopefully we'll have something for you by then."
