The neighbor girl, Abigail

Standing in the doorway is a young girl, much like any other in the colony; she wears a simple black dress with a white apron, and she wears a similarly white bonnet and shawl over her head and shoulders, respectively. She is young, and came over with her family, that much you remember at least. Her cute, round face is flush red with embarrassment, as red as the apples she has dropped onto the floor.

"Oh, Miss Abigail" you stutter out, mixing surprise and confusion. "Please, just...look away, I'm indecent!" you try to say.

Her eyes are locked on your groin, wide with fascination.

You hurry over to her, not sure what to do. Anxiously, you start to put her apples back in the basket and push it off to her. "Please, just take your apples and be on your way!"

Abigail takes the apples in one hand, but the other she brings to her mouth. You now notice the sound of a soft giggle coming from the Puritan girl. "You're-" she begins, only to be cut off by her own laughter. "I mean, just look at your-" she tries again, breaking into even louder giggles this time. "I mean, I didn't think it would be so-" she says, trying vainly to stifle herself.

You just want it to be over with at this point. You take her by the shoulders, and gently yet firmly as possible. "Yes, I'm sure it's very funny. But your parents must be expecting you and those apples," you say, walking her out the door.

As you get out in the open, she laughs outright. "If you want to be left alone, so be it" she says, wiping a stray lock of flaxen hair away from her face between laughs. "But you know what they say about idle hands Mr. Turner. Careful, careful" she says, wagging a finger playfully. Having left you with her piece of wisdom, she grabs the hem of her skirt and walks away at a brisk pace, the echoing of her joy grating on you as you watch her leave. You can already tell, this girl is a mischief maker.
