"Holy shit its ****!" Exclaimed Jessie after drinking from the plant.

"Wait what?"

You reached for another basin yourself and brought it to your lips. The taste of **** was unmistakable, though it was very weak. The thing tasted a bit like a slightly sweet and very diluted vodka.

"My God, you're right."

This actually seemed to get Emilie's attention. From the corner of your eye, you saw her timidly turn around, hand in front of her eyes but finger clearly parted to let her see.

"Did you say the plant had ****?" She asked, still trying to not look at us.

"Yes babe, come have a swig!"

"Jess..."

"Eish, lighten up. The thing is even lighter than cheap American beer."

Emilie had approached the plant, her hands no longer covering her face. You angled yourself to try and conceal your still very painful erection but she seemed to no longer care, now completely engrossed in observing the plant.

"Interesting..." She said before dipping her index in one of the basins Jess was holding out for her and putting it in her mouth. "Very interesting..." She said with the finger still stuck between her teeth.

She then proceeded to walk around the plant, looking it up and down. All the while, she kept lightly sucking on her index, her face scrunched up in deep concentration.

She then stopped in front of one of the lower basins whose funnel had collapsed over it's opening. She picked up a stick with her free hand and the slowly lifted the funnel to look inside.

She pulled out her index with a wet "pop" before adding "Just as I suspected."

Emilie then lifted the funnel more, revealing that underneath laid the decomposed corpse of what must have been a small jungle animal, floating in the fluid.

"That plant is carnivorous!" She stated with no small amount of wonder.

"Wait, is it going to eat us?" Asked Jessie, now slightly concerned.

"Wha- Oh no. We're WAY too big for it." Emilie dismissed. She then continued to circle the plant, looking at it with wonder and pointing out parts of it as she explained. "My guess is that it collects rain water in these basins and then proceeds to spike it. It then waits for small animals to come drink from and makes them drunk enough that they risk falling in. When that happens, the funnel leaf on top of the basin must instinctively close, ensuring that the animal remains in the basin and drowns in it. It must then be able to digest it, taking in large amount of nutrients."

"You got all that from just looking at it?" You asked impressed.

"Well it's only a theory... But its 'leaves' clearly match the pattern of carnivorous plant pitchers and would be very poorly adapted for photosynthesis. Its truly astounding size, far larger than any carnivorous plant back on Earth, makes it impossible for it to only sustain itself on insects so a diet of small animals is the obvious answer. Finally, the plant can't hope to out-muscle an animal so it must somehow incapacitate them. From your description of the water, that is mostly likely through **** intoxication."

Emilie turned towards you with a beaming smile.

"Do you realize how amazing this is? Plant life as complex as this means that the Gaia seed worked beyond any expectation or simulation. And there's probably a dozen other biological interaction this plant has that we-"

"Kick-ass plant that makes booze, got it." Interrupted Jessie. "This planet is fucking awesome!"

"Well... technically all **** are made by plants through fermentation..."

"Don't ruin this with science babe. It's a booze plant."

"Is it dangerous?" You asked.

"Well I can't be sure, but I don't think so. As long as we don't drink water polluted by a corpse we should be fine."

"You know what that means..." Asked Jessie with an excited smile.

"Jess..."

"It means it's time to party!"

"Jess no."

"Aw, come on dude! I believe the deal was that we went outside to wash AND relax..."
