Chapter 37 by frogogre1 frogogre1

Who's being hit first?

The most dangerous first

Batman was trying to catch his breath after the last fight; he had been fighting nonstop all night. In order to stay on top of all the shoot outs happening happening around Gotham he and the others had to separate from pairs into operating alone. It meant more people were save from the **** but was leaving them more **** but it was nesscery risk in the end that had worked.

He knew should get moving head to the bat cave to rearm and rest. Hopefully the others would be there and they could exchange any Intel they got to see if they had gotten any closer to ending this rather insane situation. Though he didn't have his hopes up as he was finding these two mafia's to have no reason to then. Even the insane ones had some logic hopefully they would find it in these two mafia's soon.

Batman shook his head, knowing he needed to go back to base and it was going to be a long walk, as he had ditched the vehicles to be sure he could move through Gotham unimpeded. Though before he could make the long jog home, something reached out and grabbed him, dragging him into the shadows. Batman immediately tried to break the grip of the thing around him but was having trouble doing so.

He was brought up and onto a nearby roof. He finally saw what hit him a fish man with see through skin an eel like head and a tail that was several dozen meters long. Which explained how he got the drop on him. The fish man was effectively three roofs over when he struck at him with his tail.

He continued to struggle in the eel man's tail. " Now then there's no reason to struggle your just making it worse for yourself." A concerned woman's voice said. Batman looked over to see a woman covered in silver fish scales with dark black hair. She had black eyes, and the walk was eyeing him up with the pool if frustrated mother. "Con, now you're just going to hurt yourself trying to escape." The fish woman said with worry, which was strange, but Batman ignored that for the moment.

He kept struggling feeling the tail that had him wrapped in a firm grip. He eventually felt what he had been looking for since he had first been grabbed. He gripped the tail at a pressure point in the muscle causing it go slack and drop him. The moment he hit the ground he waited no time and move to get close to the eel man.

"No, my boy, it won't be that easy," the eel man said before his tail whipped around and came back at Batman. "Why don't you listen to Mom? She only wants what's best for you." The eel man warned, though Batman ignored it, and so the ridiculous long tail came back around. It quickly became a game of cat and mouse as the tail kept trying to get him, and Batman tried his best to avoid it.

Batman got weaker and weaker the longer the fight went on, as it had already been a long night of battles for him. Though he eventually managed to turn the tide as he timed it just right and was able to jump on the tail and run quickly, closing the distance. Though right as he was on the cusp of laying into his opponent, he suddenly felt a violent **** hit his chest and send him rolling across the roof.

"No!" The female fish woman roared before rushing over to the downed Batman. She checked him and saw he was breathing, though he probably had a few cracked ribs. She let out a happy sigh that he was alive and then proceeded to roar something at someone far away that Batman hadn't noticed during the fight with the tail. Batman couldn't make out what was being said though he did know it wasn't a happy conversation.

Batman could feel himself slipping away, the last sudden blow doing him in as he passed out. As he passed, the fishwoman's hand gently went through his hair. He found he could only think of one thing as everything faded to black. Why did the fish woman and long-tailed fish man sound so much like his parents, who had died decades ago?

So who next on the list?
