Chapter 7 by krystalumpire krystalumpire

What's in store for these four men?

The men compete for power

Julie Chen welcomes Ethan, Chirag, Eugene and Derek to the stage. She gives the men the same spiel as before, letting them know that they're to begin their first competition as soon as they enter the house. She asks the men to enter, and they all go inside. While heading to the backyard, Eugene geeks out a little over the realistic-looking Roman centurion armor in the living room before rejoining the others. In the backyard, they find four stations each with a set of large puzzle pieces. As the men each take their stations, Julie Chen comes over the intercom to explain the rules.

"Alright, gentlemen. Get ready for your first competition of the summer. This competition is called Crumbled Colosseum and here's how it works. Each of you has a set of puzzle pieces that, when reassembled, will form a familiar image. On my go, you will race to complete your puzzle as fast as possible. Once you think you are finished, run back and hit the button behind you. If you are correct, the button will light up green. If you are incorrect, it will turn red and you must try again. The first houseguest to finish his puzzle and hit his button will move on to compete for the first Head of Household. The last houseguest to finish will be a Have-Not this week. Does everyone understand? On your mark, get set, go!"

The horn sounds and everyone starts building. The puzzle is only ten pieces, as it's designed to be solved within a couple of minutes for live TV. Derek jumps out to a quick lead, systematically working his way from the bottom to the top. Chirag takes a moment to lay out his pieces and study them before constructing the puzzle, trying to figure out where everything goes first. Ethan and Eugene are cycling through puzzle pieces as fast as they can, but not making much progress.

After about 30 seconds, Chirag seems confident and starts to build, but Derek is already halfway done. It isn't long before Derek finishes his puzzle forming a picture of the Roman Colosseum. Seeing that he's ahead, Derek lets out a cheer as he walks back and hits his button to win the competition. As Julie Chen congratulates Derek on his win, Eugene starts looking at Derek's puzzle to try and figure out how he solved it. Meanwhile, Chirag's planning is paying off and he finishes his puzzle and hits his button about 10 seconds after Derek.

It's only Ethan and Eugene left in the race to not come in last. Eugene has started to make progress thanks to Derek's solved example, so Ethan looks over to Chirag's puzzle for guidance. Soon, both men are neck-in-neck as they assemble their final pieces. Eugene places his final piece and starts running back to hit the button. However, Ethan finishes a fraction of a second later and sprints for the button. In the last moment, Ethan just manages to overtake Eugene and hit his button first, leaving Eugene as the second Have-Not. After confirming the results, Julie Chen appears back on screen to throw to the next commercial break.

Who's entering the house next?
