Chapter 199 by Twistinger

What's next for them?

The long-awaited ten year high school reunion

In a flash, the day for our ten year high school reunion arrived.

After the six of us went our separate ways following high school graduation, it became notoriously difficult to schedule anything together, more so now that Corrine flew wherever her photoshoots took her, and Stephanie's continued pursuits took her all over the country. Amy and I didn't even see much of Talia or Elizabeth, even though we were never all that far away - not more than half a day of driving, at least. Coordinating all six of us together in the same place, on the same day, was a herculean task.

But we all vowed to make it. It helped that Amy sweetened the deal by coinciding the reunion with my 29th birthday.

That day we closed the company early, after the troupe had their own mini celebration by pirouetting me around the studio until I was dizzy. Then it was back home to prepare several slow-cooked, homely dishes as a surprise for the others (Amy, to our surprise, turned out to have a genuine affinity for cooking).

And then, one by one, the girls arrived in the afternoon, and there was many gushes and hugs and cheers to go around as the group gathered in our apartment. Naturally, much of the attention was also lavished on Adam, as well as the usual jokes about Amy and motherhood at our shared expense - before we dropped off Adam at Piers' house for babysitting that night.

Unsurprisingly, Amy wowed the crowd with how accomplished she was as a cook, despite the constraints of her working schedule. But that didn't compare to the atmosphere that night, as everyone fell back into easy conversation, chatting and laughing and joking as freely as we remembered. It was like the past ten years never happened and we were all back in high school.

After the dinner...
