The lead?

Lizzie's jaw dropped as she saw the cast list, she was playing Sally, the lead, a mix of emotions flooded her head, confusion at her being picked when her audition the night before was so mediocre, fear at the idea of being on stage with hundreds of eyes on her, and deep down, excitement... she never dreamt of something like this happening.

Her friend Melissa greeted her that morning as she was walking back to class, "Hey Lizzie! I heard you got the lead... no hard feelings okay?" Lizzie's face turned red as she realized she had beat her best friend for the role. "I'm so sorry Melissa, there must have been a mistake, you are way better at all of this than I am." Lizzie apologized to her friend, but Melissa just smiled and shook her head, "No mistake, I already asked Ms.Bailey about it, but don't you worry, I'm still in the play and I'm going to help you become the best Sally Bowles that has ever took the stage!" Lizzie smiles, too naive to notice the grin, the predatory way that her best friend was acting, for Melissa would not let this slight against her go unanswered and she would make sure Lizzie's next rehearsal at least, would be one to remember.
