The last lecture is over

The last lecture finally ends and you hurry out of campus and take the bus home. Need to get back and get ready. Even though you're exhausted, you can't stop yourself smiling at the thought of spending some quality time with Matt.

Your flat is empty, thank God, and you quickly shower, dry your hair, and look for something to wear. God, I really need some new clothes. You settle on some skinny jeans and a tight tank top, with your converse trainers. You have a liitle time to apply a bit of makeup, and perfume and then it's time to leave. You look in the mirror. I suppose I scrub up OK.

Time to go. You leave and walk to the bus stop. 5 minutes later the bus arrives. Not trevor this time, but an older man that you recognise. You smile and ask for a return journey, but when you scan your travel card it refuses. "Card' empty" the man says flatly. You apologise and try your bank card instead with a sinking feeling in your belly. That declines. Shit. I don't even get paid till next week and mum needs most of that for bills. You feel your cheeks go red and you start to stutter an apology but he talks over you. "Just sit down love. I'm sure you'll pay next time won't you?"

"Thank you sir, I will" you reply, full of gratitude. You take a seat and sigh. This can't go on. I need some money, fast.

You get off the bus just a short walk from Matt's house, and before long you are walking up the long driveway towards the front door.

Finally! Right, OK. I've got to make a good impression on Matt's mum and dad. If they like me I think me and Matt could get serious, given enough time.

You take a breath and knock on the door.

This could be my chance to escape Park Road and all the shit I've been living through!
